Microsoft's Surface tablet Video Transcript
I'm Dan Farber editor at CNET and I'm joined by Eric Franklin. From CNET reviewer who was at the service -- Benton. What were your impressions it -- -- it was more of a preannouncement. Announcement of an actual product right well they didn't touch it so. I guess I prove something. I got a very brief time to -- with in this kind of back room -- all -- funnel into this back room in groups of seven. And there are like four stations that they -- each each station went into that aspect of surface at one station to get a chance to spend maybe twenty seconds with. The surface tablet where -- -- around a little bit. Before I was told to -- announcement taxpayers. Did you get any chance to check out the keyboard. I did but it never had a chance to check out the keyboard when was attached to a surface that was actually turn on. Only patients -- -- the key word windows on attached to the surface or -- or is that wasn't an announcement that the complete typing experience which. But -- did -- and a presentation. So what are we need to know before we get a better sense of whether the services are competitive product the iPad or Android devices. A few important things like apps -- battery life price. My -- is going to be competitive with other tablets but we don't know what that means. To me anything -- so until we know what the price is going to be used to we know what -- app supports gonna have until we know how long -- -- the last -- We don't know how competitive is gonna be against the iPad and other social would you characterize this more as -- prototype than an actual real product. Has something that Microsoft is using basically to. Freeze the market today don't don't buy those -- right now wait for this windows -- system to come up. I think -- of it has every intent to release surface but I think that. It also can work says that it can coming galvanize. You know. Manufacturers who -- working on windows eight tablets to be like. Hey what we -- -- half past it but we've seen -- surfaced in -- -- subsequent full -- on this thing so mean we should step up our game and come out with real actual. Cool tablet. Well Eric I hope you get your hands on one of those service unit soon and we'll come back and talk to you -- hope so -- important current. For CNET I'm Dan Farber thanks for watching.
