I'm Maggie Reardon with CNET and I'm here in New York at Microsoft's launch of Office 365, their new cloud-based service that takes all of their Office products and puts them in the web for people to use. This new service is really targeted for small and medium-sized businesses. For $6 a month per user, small businesses will get access to Microsoft Exchange e-mail, to the SharePoint document sharing, and the full suite of Microsoft Office products, and also unify communications. The benefit for small businesses is that they no longer have to have a server that they manage and they can use collaboration tools just like the big guys, but Microsoft isn't alone in this market. Google also has similar services which are sometimes priced lower or even free, but Microsoft thinks that they have a leg up in the game, because of their long history in the enterprise software market, and because people are already familiar with all their products.
