We found a love note with a crappy love poem and decided it would make a killer song. Then, we made this video!
The Download.com Video team presents highlights from some of our favorite user-submitted videos. This time around we've got a video inspired by an abandoned love note, a jaunty tune from Stockholm, Sweden and a soulful song of peace. To watch each individual video, follow the links below.
1.) Autochamp: "Note to Self"
2.) Les Issambres: "Santa Fe"
3.) Allison Crowe: "Whether I'm Wrong"
This video provides the heart with hope for a long lasting reality or LOVE with Peace of MIND as well, insh'Allah (God willing).
Prophet Omega: "The Right Thing"
Until recently, Joe Magistro was an affable, unassuming rock drummer who could often be seen manning the traps in the rock clubs of New York City. Then he underwent a startling metamorphosis into multi-tasking one-man D.I.Y. mastermind Prophet Omega, who makes an appropriately visionary entrance with his Astralwerks debut The Natural World. Recorded in makeshift home studios in a Brooklyn apartment and a rented cabin in the rustic isolation of New York's Catskill mountains, The Natural World is a one-of-a-kind magnum opus whose 13 lovingly crafted tracks combine a freewheeling sonic sensibility with abundant melodic hooks and generous doses of old-school rock and soul beats. Magistro mines an array of real and sampled instruments and a ramshackle assortment of found sounds, stitching disparate elements into seamlessly funky epics that combine over-the-top sonic inspiration with tightly constructed, lyrically thoughtful songcraft.
Check out the video for the first single from the album "Never Never Love". Directed by Neville Love.
Dwight Yoakam: "Intentional Heartache"
A song about hot-blooded love from "Blame the Vain", the L.A.-based country star's 2005 album and his first without longtime producer/guitarist Pete Anderson.
The Wimshurst's Machine: "Magic Lights"
This was the very first video presentation of the band, created for their most-requested song, "Magic Lights", from their first album, "A traveller who didn't ask for glory".
Iron and Wine: "Naked as We Came"
Miami's Sam Beam makes music under the name Iron and Wine and September, 2002 saw the release of his debut album, The Creek Drank the Cradle. That record was/is hushed, literate, intimate, melodic: a quiet treasure which, with its unaffected candor and depth, found fans all over. (Entertainment Weekly: "Based in Miami, of all places, [Beam] invests these songs with hypnotic beauty and sparkling melody, making them as accessible as they are affecting.") Our Endless Numbered Days is the second full-length album from Iron and Wine and it was recorded both at Sam's Miami home and in Chicago's Engine Studios with Brian Deck (Red Red Meat, Modest Mouse, Ugly Casanova, etc.) On it, Sam is aided and abetted by regular touring and recording conspirators: his sister Sarah Beam, Patrick McKinney, Jeff McGriff, EJ Holowicki, and Jonathon Bradley. Listening to Our Endless Numbered Days makes plain Sam's deft touch with words and melody; one that allows him to turn out stories about love, loss, faith, or the lack of it that are at once personal and universal, set to music that is sweetly haunting and timeless.
