Video description: In 1994, Mos Def along with his younger brother DCQ and his younger sister Ces, formed the group Urban Thermo Dynamics. UTD first graced the scene with the underground classic track "My Kung Fu". They soon thereafter followed up with the now classic "Manifest Destiny" single, which gave them notoriety among the wider hip-hop masses. Both singles where to lead up to the release of the group's debut album, Manifest Destiny. Though the group was signed to Payday Records, the album never saw an official release. Soon after the group was released from Payday, Mos Def and DCQ formed Medina Green and released the Rawkus Records underground mega-hit Crosstown Beef. Later, Mos Def recorded with Talib Kweli as Black Star, which took his underground notoriety to soaring heights. Mos Def's commercial popularity spawned with his hit gold debut solo album, Black on Both Sides. Now commercially available for the first time is the UTD Manifest Destiny album via Illson Media (imprint founded by DCQ). This hip-hop classic is filled with dark and melodic bass heavy production from Diamond D. and Showbiz. The album features the timeless songs: 'My Kung Fu', 'Manifest Destiny', 'Moon In Cancer', and 'Like That'. This album is a must have for all fans of classic and quality Hip-Hop. In conjunction with the release of the UTD album, Illson Media is re-releasing Medina Green U Know The Flex Mixtape Vol. 1. Rooted in the creative atmosphere of the Bay Area, Hieroglyphics has emerged as a powerful force within underground hip-hop culture. Comprised of Del the FunkyHomosapien, Casual, Pep Love, Domino, and the group Souls of Mischief, this crew is one of the first to successfully forge careers as a collective and as individual artists. Releases included projects with soul singer Goapele, and hip-hop artists Z-Man and Encore. In 2004, the expansion continued. The Hiero crew has followed up Third Eye Vision with a new release entitled Full Circle , as well as a solo album from Tajai (Souls of Mischief)-Power Movement, and V/A The Building, a budget compilation of things to come. 2005 will bring about forthcoming albums from: Opio (Triangulation Station) Casual (Smash Rockwell), Pep Love (Reconstruction) and Del (Eleventh Hour). Jazzy Jeff formed the group DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince in 1985 with Will Smith. The Roots: "All in the Music"

The Roots, known for their innovative album concepts, return after a two year break to release their new album, ‘Game Theory’.‘Game Theory’ is The Roots’ most thought-provoking, incitive album since their 1999 breakthrough ‘Things Fall Apart’ and will be the group’s debut for Def Jam Recordings, home to the world’s premiere Hip-Hop artists. dead prez co-founder M-1 will release his debut solo album entitled "Confidential" on March 21st on KOCH Records and Sotti Records. The album features guest appearances from artists Styles P, Q-Tip, K'naan and Cassandra Wilson. M-1, who makes up half of the highly respected hip-hop group dead prez, is excited about his solo release. He wants to make clear that he's not leaving dead prez but that this album represents a new platform, making it appealing to current dead prez fans and new M-1 fans. "Confidential" showcases another dimension of M-1's ingenuity and talent while encompassing the same empowering culture fans have come to know and respect. "Confidential" is the next chapter in the dead prez book," explains M-1.

Youth Group: "Shadowland"

One of Australia's most quietly adored bands, Youth Group, stand ready to roar with 'Skeleton Jar'. Youth Group are at the forefront of an exciting new era in Australian alternative music. Singer/guitarist/songwriter Toby Martin formed the group with drummer Danny Allen in Sydney, Australia and despite several line-up changes since, these two remain at the band's core. After quickly gaining a strong live following the band signed to local independent label Ivy League Records (the same people who manage The Vines and Jet) and released their debut album in May 2001. Jet: "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is"

Atlantic recording group Jet has revealed the first details of their eagerly awaited second album. Dubbed "SHINE ON," the Aussie rock sensations' follow-up to 2003's RIAA platinum-plus debut, "GET BORN," is set to land in stores on October 3rd. Produced by Dave Sardy - who helmed "GET BORN," as well as recent efforts by such bands as Oasis and Dirty Pretty Things - the album sees Jet again putting their own contemporary stamp on classic guitar-fuelled rock 'n' roll. The album's first single, "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," will impact multiple radio formats on August 7th. The Melbourne-based band spent much of 2005 and 2006 writing and demoing "SHINE ON" at a variety of studios around the world, including Barbados, Massachusetts, and their home country of Australia. The sessions wound up this spring with a marathon burst of creativity at Sardy's Hillside Manor Studios in Los Angeles. Coinciding with the release of "SHINE ON," Jet will embark on a whirlwind tour of the U.S., slated to run from September 18th through October 6th. Dates will be announced shortly.
