I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here is taken look at the Dell Inspiron fourteen Z. At first glance this is -- -- snazzy thirteen inch laptop. -- of -- you don't look too closely. Take of the coffee shop you won't be embarrassed to see if it. But once you kind of get up close to realize that of the brushed metal and actually plastic it just looks like metal. I've got these brittle plastic flaps over the ports on the side and whole thing has kind of a plastic not super sturdy feel to it. -- that being said this part of Dell's Inspiron line its lower cost -- compared to the XPS and even Alienware laptops. And for any reasonably thin thirteen his laptop with an Intel Core I five CPU which is pretty good. I -- to say that this guy can't -- 99 that actually makes it a pretty good bargain if you're looking for something that's kind of like an ultra book. All but maybe not technically as -- as some of the more expensive ultra books that we've seen. I did see a -- to differences between this model and the more expensive fourteen Z that we also reviewed recently keep in mind that fourteen -- was about 200 dollars more. In that model -- brushed metal would actually metal not plastic and the touchpad was launcher and had a nice -- match service to at this this smaller touch that is to sort of imprinted. Into the wrist rest otherwise though these are very similar machines so if you're looking for something that is just about -- -- book and then you can carry around with you and has. Mainstream power in that Intel Core I five but you don't wanna spend a lot. -- for 699 I think that the Inspiron thirteen Z is a fairly reasonable compromise. If you're looking for a budget but -- looking for keys are flat I'm Dan Ackerman and that is the Dell Inspiron thirteen disease.

Dell Inspiron 13z Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Dell Inspiron 13z is a slim, low-cost 13-inch laptop with performance to match more-expensive systems.

The bad: The plastic body feels cheap, as do the ports flaps and small touch pad.

The bottom line: With the same CPU as you find in ultrabooks that cost a lot more, the Dell Inspiron 13z is a budget laptop that holds its head up high.
