-So, the summer season is winding down, but this bluetooth speaker works just as well indoors. I'm Justin Yu, associate editor, for cnet.com. And today, I'm taking a First Look at the Logitech Wireless Boombox for iPad. So, the guts of this boombox are nearly identical to Logitech's S715i iPad dock that earned our editor's choice last year, so you get the same impressive sound quality, sculpted design, and 2 passive subwoofers that sit on the front of the speakers, but instead of the iPod dock, Apple foregoes Apple AirPlay, instead going with bluetooth for the connection, which might not sound as good, but does end up costing less at just $150. You can use any device with a bluetooth connection to output music, which includes most smartphones and tablets, and linking to the wireless speaker is as easy as making sure the player's bluetooth signal is on. Holding down this button to put the speaker in discovery mode then selecting it on the accompanying device. The beauty of bluetooth is its simplicity and it shouldn't take more than a minute for you to connect. You can also play music through a hardwire 3.5-mm stereo connection and Logitech includes a dual-plug cable for that purpose. You should also know that a wired connection will always give you better fidelity than bluetooth since it doesn't have to compress that signal to transfer over. So, we can't get too picky about the sound of any bluetooth speaker, but we do like that that Logitech can project its loud volumes over an impressive distance. It's not gonna compare to a computer speaker, but that's the tradeoff for its portability and the rechargeable battery. With that being said, you can also pay an extra 50 bucks and pick up the smaller bluetooth speakers like the Jawbone Jambox, but those won't sound half as good. So, the Logitech Wireless Boombox is great for users that want to hear a better quality music from their tablet or smartphone, but still want the option to carry it outside and not worry about its durability. So, for 150 bucks, we do recommend this budget speaker to those folks, but you should know about other worthwhile alternatives for shoppers on the go. To get that info, head over to cnet.com and check out our full review, but that's gonna do it for this video. I'm Justin Yu. You just took a First Look at the Logitech Wireless Boombox for iPad and that sounds good to me.

Logitech Wireless Boombox for iPad Review
The good: Powered by eight drivers, the Logitech Wireless Boombox for iPad uses Bluetooth connectivity to play music wirelessly from Bluetooth devices, including the iPad and other tablets.
The bad: Its bulky stature is best for stationary use, and competitive models offer slightly diminished sonic quality in a much smaller candy-bar design.
The bottom line: Logitech wins again with the Wireless Boombox for iPad, delivering a speaker that sounds great and won't empty your wallet. We recommend it for stationary indoor and outdoor use, but portable music lovers should keep shopping.
