>> I'm John Falcone, senior editor at cnet.com, and this is the Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime. The Anytime is the latest entry in Logitech's line of Pure-Fi iPod speaker docs. This one is pretty much a bargain version of the Pure-Fi Dream. Like the Dream, the Pure-Fi Anytime is an AM FM clock radio with a doc that handles most iPod and iPhone models. The unit is also GSM shielded, so you can doc your iPhone without having to put it into airplane mode. The Pure-Fi Anytime is small enough to fit on nearly any nightstand, and somewhat boxy design is reasonably attractive. As usually, we prefer a matte finish to the shiny black that's a magnet for fingerprints. There's a small caddy on the backside, so you always know where the small remote control can be found. The clock radio has dual alarms that will wake to radio, a buzzer, or your iPod. But the big attraction here is the wave-to-snooze feature. Just pass your hand over the top and you'll be able to sleep for a few more minutes. On the down side, the Pure-Fi Anytime has only three station presets per band, although they can also be assigned to the iPod play list as well. But the bigger problem was sound quality. It just wasn't nearly as good as the other more expensive Logitech Pure-Fi systems we've heard in the past. That said, the Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime's relatively strong feature set, attractive design, and affordable price tag go a long way to make up for its sonic shortfalls. It's a perfectly good iPhone, iPod clock radio, and a worthy competitor to most similarly-priced options from iHome.
