MARVEL COMICS COMES TO THE IPHONE AND SEVERAL E-READERS, THE APPLE TV MAY LAUNCH SUBSCRIPTION-TV, AND YOU COULD BE VACATIONING IN SPACE SOONER THAN YOU THINK. IT'S TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD. I'M NATALI DEL CONTE, COMING TO YOU FROM SAN FRANCISCO THIS WEEK. IT'S TIME TO GET LOADED. [*] MARVEL WANTS ITS COMIC BOOKS TO GET INTO THE E-READER MARKET. THE COMIC BOOK COMPANY ANNOUNCED A COLLABORATION WITH E-INK TO MAKE PROCESSORS FOR ELECTRONIC BOOK READERS THAT CAN HANDLE COMIC BOOKS. THE READERS THAT WILL HAVE THIS CHIP INCLUDE THE ENTOURAGE EDGE, THE ALEX READER FROM SPRING DESIGN, AND A DEVICE FROM PLASTIC LOGIC. THIS IS A SMART IDEA ON BEHALF OF MARVEL TO GET OUT AHEAD OF THIS MARKET. MARVEL HAS ALSO PARTNERED WITH PANELFLY TO BRING COMIC BOOKS TO THE IPHONE. THE PANELFLY IPHONE APP WILL BRING SPIDERMAN, X-MEN, AND IRONMAN TO YOUR IPHONE FOR JUST 99 CENTS PER DOWNLOAD. THE APP ITSELF IS FREE. [*] HULU LAUNCHED A "COMING SOON" PAGE THAT WILL FUNCTION LIKE THE SITE'S OWN TV GUIDE. IT WILL LET YOU BROWSE BY DATE OR SCHEDULE UPCOMING SHOWS TO WATCH. YOU CAN ALSO REQUEST NOTIFICATIONS WHEN YOUR FAVORITE SHOWS HAVE NEW EPISODES. THIS WASN'T SUCH A BIG DEAL WHEN HULU KEPT ENTIRE SEASONS ONLINE BUT NOW THAT THEY ONLY KEEP CERTAIN SHOWS FOR A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME, IT IS HELPFUL TO HAVE A GUIDE. YOU CAN FIND IT AT HULU.COM/COMING-SOON. [*] A NEW STUDY SHOWS THAT PEOPLE WHO DOWNLOAD MUSIC ILLEGALLY ARE NOT LAZY FREELOADERS LIKE YOU MIGHT EXPECT. ON THE CONTRARY, THOSE PEOPLE SPEND MORE MONEY ON MUSIC THAN PEOPLE WHO DO NOT PIRATE MUSIC. THE STUDY COMES OUT OF THE UK AND ESTIMATES THAT PEOPLE WHO ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD MUSIC SPEND 77-POUNDS PER YEAR ON MUSIC, WHEREAS PEOPLE WHO DON'T DO THAT, ONLY SPEND 33-POUNDS PER YEAR. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT CONSIDERING THE UK IS IMPLEMENTING A NEW LAW THAT WOULD REVOKE INTERNET ACCESS IF YOU ARE CAUGHT PIRATING THREE TIMES. SO WOULD THE MUSIC INDUSTRY LIGHTEN UP A LITTLE IF THEY KNEW THAT LESS-THAN- LEGAL MUSIC RETRIEVAL METHODS WERE BEING USED FOR MUSIC DISCOVERY? I WOULD WAGER PROBABLY NOT. BUT THEY SHOULD. [*] THE APPLE TV MAY SOON OFFER SUBSCRIPTION-BASED TV SERVICES. THE IDEA WOULD BE TO PAY ROUGHLY $30 PER MONTH TO GET CERTAIN NETWORKS OR SHOWS ON YOUR APPLE DEVICE. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL IS REPORTING THAT NONE OF THE MAJOR NETWORKS HAVE SIGNED ON FOR THIS YET BUT SPECULATION IS THAT DISNEY WOULD BE THE FIRST SINCE APPLE AND DISNEY HAVE SUCH A COZY RELATIONSHIP. IT WOULDN'T BE A BAD IDEA. IT WOULD TURN THE APPLETV INTO A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE THAN YOUR CABLE BOX. [*] YOU COULD BE TAKING A VACATION IN SPACE BY 2012. A COMPANY IN SPAIN SAYS THAT THE GALACTIC SUITE SPACE RESORT IS ON TARGET TO START TAKING GUESTS IN JUST A FEW YEARS. FOR THE BARGAIN PRICE OF 3 MILLION EUROS, YOU CAN STAY IN THE HOTEL FOR 3 NIGHTS WHERE YOU CAN WATCH 15 SUNRISES PER DAY AND TRAVEL AROUND THE EARTH EVERY 80 MINUTES. DON'T PACK YOUR FANCY VACATION CLOTHES THOUGH. YOU HAVE TO WEAR VELCRO SUITS SO THAT YOU CAN MOVE FROM ROOM TO ROOM WITHOUT FLOATING AWAY. [*] A NEW WII GAME USES A BABYDOLL AS THE WII-MOTE. ACTUALLY, YOU HAVE TO PUT THE WII INSIDE THE BABY, WHICH I FIND RATHER DISTURBING. ONCE THE WII-MOTE IS SAFELY INSIDE THE BABY DOLL, THE PURPOSE OF THE GAME IS TO ROCK, BURP, AND GENERALLY CARE FOR THE LITTLE ONE. IF YOU ARE A BAD PARENT, THE BABY WILL CRY THROUGH YOUR SPEAKERS. THE GAME IS CALLED "BABY AND ME" AND IT GOES ON SALE ON NOVEMBER 10TH. [*] THOSE ARE ALL OF YOUR HEADLINES FOR TODAY AND I WILL BACK TOMORROW. I'M NATALI DEL CONTE WITH CNET TV AND YOU'VE JUST BEEN LOADED.
