>> TV and the Internet combine forces. Jobs promises another iPhone fix, and mobile phones are a dime a dozen. It's Thursday, August 21, I'm Natali Del Conte and it's time to get Loaded. ^M00:00:12 [ Music ] ^M00:00:14

>> Intel and Yahoo are combining TV and the Internet for your viewing pleasure. The two companies are on board to integrate Yahoo web apps that will use a new media processor designed by Intel. The apps can be accessed from a widget channel through Intel's device to allow the use of Internet applications to complement the experience of watching TV. The program will also be open to developers and that they can write their own TV apps. This is a novel fusion of TV and the Internet. I'm just trying to figure out exactly how the interface will look. Maybe a bit like pop-up videos? Sims 3 has been given a release date. The latest installment of the popular social simulation game will hit stores worldwide in February of 2009. The game was designed by developer Will Wright, whose much anticipated game Spore is due out just next month. You can still create characters and families, but the customization features for the new game will be a bit more advanced. What you do outside your home will matter just as much as what you do indoors and you can customize personality traits like kleptomania, paranoia and clumsiness. The iPhone 3G is hitting the market in India, both Airtel and Vodafone will begin selling the iPhone 3G on Friday. My advice, wait for Apple to upgrade the firmware. Speaking of a firmware upgrade, Steve Jobs has promised another fix for the most recent nightmare known as 2.0.2 that has troubled 3G iPhoners. The firmware upgrade has caused problems from spotty scrolling to freezing the phone all together. A fix is underway and it will be shipped in September. Apple has been uncharacteristically candor about problems at MobileMe and the iPhone, but despite the company's following, these ongoing problems will make consumers think twice about putting all their faith in Apple. There's another breakthrough in LED technology. Scientists at Purdue have found a way to make LED lights more efficient at a lower cost. The technology if applied could reduce energy consumption significantly. The reason traditional LEDs are pricey is because the light-emitting crystal has to be treated with expensive materials. The new process would generate LEDs using silicon wafers at a much cheaper cost. The bulbs are more resilient and would only need to be replaced every decade or so. Motorola announced two low-priced phones that will be able to play songs and surf the Internet. The trendy Razr dominated the market for such a long time, but now it seems the company is going in another direction by releasing lower end models. The W388 will be a camera phone that has music playing capabilities. The second handset called the VE538 will have 3G, one-click mobile social networking and photo uploading priced at under $250. They'll be shipped to the Asia Pacific markets before reaching the U.S. in September. Speaking of cheap handsets, AT&T launched a pretty cool phone called the LG Invision. It supports AT&T's media flow mobile TV service, has a 1.3 megapixel camera, XM radio, support for up to 8-gigs on an SD card and it's tiny. The phone stands at 4-inches tall and about half-an-inch thick, making it the smallest phone with AT&T's TV support. It costs $99 with the two-year contract. Disney launched a social networking site for parents. The focus of the site is to connect to moms and dads with one another. Features will include the ability to share parenting tips, child age, locations and more. You can find more information at family.com/community. Pictures of a new PlayStation3 keypad had surfaced and it looks interesting. The keypad sits atop the controller and features a full keyboard and a touchpad for mouse support. The pad will come in eight language configurations. A release date hasn't been set just yet. Today is my last day of doing Loaded for a week. I'm taking a vacation next week, but we will still have a daily show for you. Mark Licea will fill in my shoes for Loaded. I hope you will continue to tune in for your daily technology news and be nice to Mark in my absence. As always, you can write us about any of this at Loaded at CNET.com. I will be back and ready to go after the Labor Day holiday. Those are all your headlines for today and that wraps up your week of getting Loaded, but if you've missed any episodes this week, you can catch up at Laoded.CNETTV.com. Thank you for watching, I'll see you in a week. I'm Natali Del Conte with CNET TV and you've just been Loaded. ^M00:04:21 [ Music ]
