>> Natali: Google had a very rare hiccup this weekend, when all search results were flagged as Malware. We don't see Google make a lot of mistakes, so when they do it's big news. Even though the mistake only lasted an hour, what happened when you executed a Google search was that every result had a "This site may harm your computer" flag underneath it. Google is attributing this to human error, no real harm was done, but I gotta say it's not very encouraging that a company that owns so much of my personal information is so vulnerable to human error. Google also had a problem with Gmail around the same time on Saturday, a problem in the company's malware filters was sending legitimate email into users' spam folders. Google said they fixed this by sending the real email back to users' inboxes. It was just a two hour problem, but these two problems in and of themselves, are a problem because of the reason I just mentioned in the previous story. Am I right or am I right? This could just be a tease, but it appears as if the iPhone may get flash video support. It's utterly absurd that it doesn't already. Adobe CEO said that his company is collaborating with Apple on getting flash on the iPhone. I've heard that before - I'll believe it when I see it. Get ready to scratch. Activision told CNBC that they're working on a new game called DJ Hero. In the spirit of Guitar Hero, it lets you play DJ in a game. I cannot wait to see what the controllers look like for that one. Of course we don't know when or how much. I'm on the fence about this one; it could be really cool or it could be really dorky - I'm leaning towards dorky, but I will reserve my judgment until we see it in action. We have a launch date for the Helio Ocean 2; the phone is expected on February 12. It will have a dual slider keypad, like the original, but also a full html browser with tabbed browsing, a 2.6 inch QVGA screen, optical sensor touchpad navigation, "buddy beacon", which is their friend location finder, and something called "the ultimate inbox", which is threaded text messages and Google Talk. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why eBook Readers are so expensive; they don't even have browsers - it's just a screen with text. That's why I'm so interested in this eSlick Reader, that's only $230. That's still more than I think it's worth, but it also supports eReader files, which is the format that books are read on the iPhone, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices. This could be a winner, although we are headed to the Amazon press conference next Monday, where we are 99.99% sure that a new Kindle is in the works, so we'll just watch and see as this eBook battle unfolds. An organization in India is supposed to launch a $20 laptop this week; it will be unveiled on Tuesday by the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology. At $20, my expectations are low, but it's supposed to have 2 gigabytes of memory, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, expandable memory and consume just 2 watts of power. Facebook can be so depressing, literally. A new study out of Stony Brook University shows that excessive co rumination online could make teenage girls more prone to anxiety and depression. This includes co rumination over text, email or social networks, so not just Facebook. Eighty-three 13 year old girls were interviewed and it turns out that the more the girls discussed the drama in their romantic lives using technology, the more they were prone to depression. Yeah, ok. I have a message for these girls and the researchers who came up with this groundbreaking result. First off, obsessing over your love life is not exacerbated by technology, it happens with or without social networks or IM clients, unfortunately I know this from experience. Also, this phenomenon - not limited to your teens.
