>> Yahoo has decided that they will only keep your data for 90 days from now on. After 90 days they'll keep records of what you've searched and clicked on, but it will be anonymous. There will be some exceptions made for fraud, security and legal obligations, but otherwise the 90-day rule will apply to page views, clicks, ad views and ad clicks. Prior to this announcement Yahoo kept data for 13 months. They're calling this new policy an industry standard, but that's pretty much a nebulous claim given that no one really have to follow it. Another form of data that Yahoo doesn't wanna keep is Jumpcut videos. Jumpcut is Yahoo's video editing and sharing site or at least it was. According to the site they are no longer accepting new video uploads. They said that this is necessary in order to focus resources on other Yahoo sites. They're encouraging users to upload videos to flickr instead, but keep in mind that flickr videos are still limited to 90 seconds. Yahoo never really did much with Jumpcut and I guess they never will. Sadly, it's another casualty of that peanut butter manifesto. Gunnar Optiks sent me a pair of these a while back. Gunnar Optiks are designed to alleviate stress on your eyes that come from staring at a computer screen for long periods of time. We sat down with optometrist Dr. Jeffrey Anshel to talk about the product, take a look. ^M00:01:33 [ Music ] ^M00:01:36

>> Computer vision syndrome is that complex of eye and vision problems related to your work which are experienced during or after computer use. The symptoms that people notice are eye strain, dry eyes, headaches, neck and back aches and even blurred vision. What we've done with the Gunnar lenses is to address each of these potential symptoms in a ways to resolve them, so that they can use computers more comfortably for longer periods of time. When you put them on they hug the eye and form fit to the face. And the studies that we've done show that it hangs on the moisture more in your eyes, so your eyes don't dry out and dry eyes is a huge problem for people using computer screens. We did some research to find out how this worked for people who use computers. We did about three or four studies initially and in general about two-thirds of the people who wear the lenses for extended period of time had a positive response to it.

>> I've been using the Gunnar Optiks for well over a month and I really love them. I do think they make a difference and that my eyes don't get tired and I don't get headaches from prolonged exposure to the computer. Not to mention, they look amazing on me. I can't really say that with a straight face. A French judge has ruled that Apple's exclusive deal with Orange Mobile in France is illegal. Their deal in France is similar to the one AT&T has here in the US. It means that they are the only carrier offering the 3G iPhone. They won't be for long though because the French competition agency ruled that this is illegal, so other carriers can now get it on the 3G iPhone game. I know I sound like a broken record when I say this, but I'll say it again anyway, I do wish this would happen in the U.S. Joost is ditching its downloadable client and turning into a strictly Web application only -- that's a no brainer. Joost became a Web-based TV portal in September over a year after its initial launch. Now it's basically a version of Hulu or TV.com. The real question is how do they differentiate themselves from already established TV viewing sites. The iPhone application is a start, but not nearly enough. Gmail keeps getting little features that make it cooler and cooler by the day. The latest one is the ability to create a document out of an e-mail. Oftentimes you have an e-mail string that has information that's important enough to make a document out of -- now you can. You just click Create a documents in Gmail and it will convert your e-mail into a Google Doc. To take advantage of this feature, go to the Gmail Labs and select Enable next to Create a document. BlackBerry is about to get support for Sling Media which means you can send your DVR shows to your BlackBerry device, very cool. This will launch on December 30. You have to have one of the more current BlackBerrys with 3G and or Wi-Fi though, namely the Bold, Storm, Curve, Pearl, or Pearls Flip. I mentioned yesterday that today will be our last daily news show of the year for Loaded.
