>> Amazon partners with TiVo. TechCrunch wants to make computers. And James Bond comes to Blu-ray. It's Tuesday, July 22, I'm Natali Del Conte and it's time to get Loaded. ^M00:00:10 [ Music ] ^M00:00:12

>> If you have a TiVo, you can now shop on Amazon directly from your DVR. The two companies have partnered up in order to let TiVo users buy products on Amazon from various on-screen menus. Right now the advertised products are random, but TiVo hopes to offer this feature to ad programmers, so that they can become contextual. So, if you're watching Oprah, gosh about some really high-end sheets, Amazon will provide you with a way to buy them right then and there. Consumers are skipping right past commercials these days, so that ad money is slowly declining. This is a smart alternative ad method, but how long before the other set top boxes copy it from TiVo. TechCrunch is reporting that MySpace may be the next site to join OpenID. OpenID is a single sign-on service that lets you use the same username and password all over the Internet. MySpace would bring an additional 200 million users to the service. OpenID is a great idea, but it really is only as good as the community of websites that use it. I would like to see more social networks get on board like the ones I actually use. Intel is asking the SCC to require that all cable set top boxes have IP capability. That would mean that your cable box could connect to the Internet through an Ethernet or wireless capability. Think of the possibilities, downloadable episodes, network with other customers, web browsing, chat -- I'm getting a little too excited about this, so I obviously MO for it. Of course the cable companies will worry about torrenting, but I predict that this kind of thing will eventually happen one way or another. If not because of Intel's petition, something else will move this along. Trillian has added Facebook notifications, but not Facebook chat. Trillian is the instant message aggregator that most PC users use. It's compatible with chat from Google, Yahoo, AIM, Windows Live and even My Space chat, but Facebook users can't chat just yet. What they can do with the new version called Astra is receive notifications and shortcuts to activity within their profile. The chat ability should launch shortly though, so be patient. Astra is in private alpha meaning you have to be invited to test it. For more information, head on over to trillianastra.com. The Samsung BlackJack II got a paltry update this week -- new colors -- yey. The BlackJack II now comes in pink and blue, but we all know that the BlackJack has a long way to go before it's actually competitive, like let's see Wi-Fi, touch screen, GPS, a good browser, pink and blue are not gonna save the BlackJack. Be on a look-out for a new Internet Tablet from TechCrunch. Yes I agree that it is unorthodox for a technology blog to start a hardware business, but that's what they're doing. I know a little something about TechCrunch writers since I used to be one of them. I guess they decided that since there is no super light, super cheap Internet reader they should pull the resources of their community and make one. They want it to run on Linux, had a Gnome onscreen keyboard and cost $300 or less. If log in on to this project head on over to TechCrunch.com and see how you can help. Adobe has a new deal with Sony that lets users watch Sony movies on its media player. The update to the media player launched on Tuesday and lets users watch movies from Sony, as well as about 600 TV shows. You can browse content the way you do in Hulu or subscribe to an RSS feed for various program. The oldest surviving copy of the Bible will be made available for all to see online on Thursday. The Codex Sinaiticus is the 4th century version of the Gospel. Religious scholars have been working to scan and publish it online and it should be complete by this time next year. A preview of the Book of Psalms and the Gospel of Mark will be ready to inspect this week though. This is a pretty cool International effort seen has the book have been spread around the world. It was scattered across Britain, Russia, Germany and Egypt. You will be able to find it at codexsinaiticus.org. A school district in Mississippi is prohibiting teachers from using technology to communicate with their students. The Lamar County School Board has approved a policy that forbids text messaging and social networks in order to reach students out of fear of inappropriate interaction between students and faculty. Talk about a misplaced fear. Students are using these technologies. Omitting them from the educational process is a mistake -- don't you agree. Tell me what you think at Loaded@cnet.com. James Bond fans should consider getting a Blu-ray player. That's because the classic Bond films are now available for pre-order on the high-def format. You can pre-order them individually or in packs on Amazon and these include the classic Bond movies starring Sean Connery, Roger Moore and regrettably Pierce Brosnan, who I maintain was the worst Bond ever. Feel free to take me to test on that one. Those are all your headlines for today, but I will be back tomorrow with more, thank you for watching. I'm Natali Del Conti with CNET TV and you've just been Loaded.
