>> If you are a Netflix user, you can stop sending the company hate mail now. Netflix has decided to keep the profile feature on the site. Two weeks ago the company announced that it would delete the profile feature which lets users network with other users, recommend movies and save their own preferences. The community of Netflix went up in arms. So the company has sheepishly said never mind. eBay has been ordered to pay 40 million Euro to French bag maker Louis Vuitton. A judge has ruled that eBay is responsible for sales of knockoff bags on its site and their punishment amounts to about 63 million American dollars. eBay has been sued for copyright before but their typical defense is that they don't handle or control the merchandise. I would wager to say that this ruling will motivate them to try a little harder to filter out counterfeit sales. Nokia signed a deal with Warner Music Group to make titles available through the Comes With Music service. This is a service that comes with certain phones which allows users to download an unlimited number of tracks per year. This is the 3rd major music label design with the Nokia service following Universal and Sony BMG. Yesterday marked the end of an era, the end of XP sales. Remember if you own XP, Microsoft will still continue to support it for another 6 years. They just won't sell the consumer version on the shelves anymore. You can still get XP if you buy the enterprise version and downgrade. But don't cry, Windows 7 is still on its way and hopefully it won't be delayed past its estimated 2010 launch date. Oh, but who are we kidding, go ahead and cry. The EPC is multiplying like bunnies these days. We just got our hands on the updated 9-inch version and now Gizmodo reports that 2 more models are in the works, the 904 and the 905. Now these are not like the other 9-inch versions though they have the one thing that I've been wanting all along, a bigger keyboard. They may also have increased battery life and storage capacity but we can't be sure yet. This is one that I will be holding my breath for. The PS3 is about to get a firmware update that will make it easier for you to network with other players. The update 2.4 will have a new version of their signature across media bar that lets PS3 users connect and communicate with other gamers as well as something called trophies that let gamers flaunt their accomplishments. Be on the look out for this update when it launches on Wednesday. Do you think the government should have the right to look through your laptop when you go through airport's security? I certainly don't neither do advocacy groups that are testifying in front of congress this week. The issue at hand is whether or not security agents should be able to open up your laptop and root through your files, browser history, and E-mails when you're traveling abroad. In April, the US court of appeals ruled that customs and border protection could conduct searches without reasonable suspicion. Of course this put certain groups at risk for profiling and gives the officials the right to just take your gadgets and storage devices if they see fit. You wanna search my toiletries, fine. You wanna search my laptop, no I'm not okay with that. If you're not either, I would urge you to write to your local congressional representative and tell them so. Digg and Netvibes both lodge recommendation search engines. Digg's offering is called the Digg recommendation agent and it compare stories that you dug with other users, and then starts to recommend what people with similar taste are digging to you. The function is in beta and will roll out slowly to a few random users at a time. Netvibes product is called Buzz. This lets user Starlink on their home page, RSS readers, or widgets. Stories that are stared most often will be displayed on a Digg-like front page. This is a nice idea in all, but I have a problem with the Monicker. It's an unfortunate rip-off of Yahoo Buzz, not to mention the Buzz Report and Buzz Out Loud. California drivers are no longer allowed to talk on a handset while driving. Adult drivers must now use a hands-free system for all calls and underage drivers are not allowed to talk on the phone at all while on the road.
