>> Jasmine France: It won't take much searching to discover that there are more than enough iPod friendly speakers littering the virtual marketplace but precious few of those cater specifically to the iPod Touch and the iPhone. That's where the Live Speaker Ultra Portable speaker comes in. In fact it's the first one I've come across that patently leaves out the non touch screen models in the family. As far as portable speakers go the Live Speaker is about as close to pocket friendly as can be. There are 3 modes for the unit. First we have the storage mode here where the iPod is docked sideways in the unit and the speakers are tucked away behind it in the most compact configuration. Turing the iPod 90 degrees brings it into portrait mode with the iPod upright and finally one more turn takes you to the ultimate video viewing mode with the speakers popped out. In the later 2 configurations you'll want to employ the kickstand here on the back which provides 3 viewing angles and slides out from the base of the unit. While this piece has a sturdy feel the rest of the unit feels rather cheap and plasticy and sound quality is about what you'd expect from a unit of this size; fairly tinny and lacking in bass. For $80 we do expect a little bit more in this area but no denying the design is super travel friendly and innovative. [ Background music ]
