Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router Video Transcript
-You want your router to be fast, easy to use, to offer long range, and lots of features. And now, you want it to be gorgeous and fabulous, too. Are you asking for too much? Hello, my name is Dong Ngo, and the answer is no, at least with Cisco, with its latest in the Linksys E-Series, the E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router. Now, this is the first true dual-band router that offers 450 megabits per second speed on the 5 gigahertz band, and generally, it has great overall real world performance. But before we go there, let's just take a closer look at it because at a glance, you might mistake it for an expensive jewelry gift box. There you go, as it is a router. The router forgoes the traditional array of status LED lights on the front. Instead, it has only one light that takes the shape of the Cisco logo that flashes when the router is booting up or something is not right, and stays solid when everything is in order. On the back, the router has 4 LAN ports and 1 WAN port. All of them are gigabit. You'll find a USB port to host an external hard drive and the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button. The router comes with Cisco Connect software that makes setting it up and using it a no-brainer for any home user. Advanced users can also use the robust web interface to do the job and take care of all of its advanced features. Overall, there's not much to complain about the E4200 except for two things: first, its power adapter, which is rather big for how compact the router is; and second is its price, which is around $180. For more information on if the router is worth the investment, check out the full review at CNET.com. Once again, my name is Dong Ngo and this has been the first look at the Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router from Cisco.

Cisco Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router Review
The good: The Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router offers true dual-band with 450Mbps on the 5GHz band; Gigabit Ethernet; fast throughput; a long range; NAS functionality; a nice set of networking features; and a good Web interface. The router also comes in a nice and compact design, and includes Cisco Connect, an intuitive software application that helps home users set up and manage their home wireless network with ease.
The bad: The Linksys E4200 doesn't offer 450Mbps throughput on the 2.4GHz band; its guest networking feature is limited to only 10 clients; the included desktop application doesn't allow for managing all of the router's settings, doesn't work well with the Web interface, and requires a live Internet connection for the initial setup. The router also runs warm, and its power adapter is bulky.
The bottom line: The Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router is the first advanced router from Cisco that will make both novice and savvy users happy, thanks to its easy-to-use desktop application, comprehensive Web interface, great design, and stellar performance.
