-- -- David Katzmaier with CNET and I'm standing at the Samsung UN 46 86000 series. Does the 46 inch LE DTVs from Samsung it's. One of six sizes in the lineup is also up 4050 -- 5560. And 65 inch T in this lineup. This review will apply to all sizes. EH 6000 -- Samsung's new breed of non slim LE DTVs and you look at -- -- from the side because it's about four inches deep three point seven to be exact which is a lot thicker than what most people think of as an LE DTV those guys ranged from an intuitive and maybe too deep so again this TV -- little bit fatter than you're used to -- LE DTVs. It's still -- LED however it actually uses only he's arranged behind the entire back -- in a full array as opposed to the edge lit LEDs that actually about TVs. That -- -- to get that really slim profile so once you get past that this TV is very basic -- actually maintains that really slim bezel around the outside of the picture we really -- that slim look and -- he had from the front looks just as compact as you expect -- -- LE DTV it's also really nice minimalist black frame so and -- -- really -- like -- unassuming design the television stand however does not slow. And when I -- -- Samsung actually got rid of the external buttons on the outside in fact there's a little joystick in its place. You just go into the TV here to access basic functionality can even get to the menu system. As well as turn the TV off. Using this -- 86000 is very basic -- not include Smart TV or three -- It also has a matte screen which I appreciate for reducing reflections in a bright room. The set does -- -- -- ways to adjust the picture including a two point grace -- When he -- Tesla doesn't have the advanced ten point and color management systems -- -- -- -- Samsung TVs. One of the design noticed he had a pretty small remote control and includes buttons that are pretty tightly packed together so one of the less usable -- that I've played with. Around back this TV is also very basic Samsung really skimp here and included only two HDMI -- puts -- single component video and put it. And no other with the speaker so you might have to actually invest an external switch to get as many devices you want connect this TV. Picture quality on EH 6000 was pretty mediocre overall it did. -- -- relatively accurate colors -- after calibration. Also appreciated the matte screened for reducing those reflections and the uniformity was better than I've seen on some. Edge lit TVs. On the downside however does have very light black levels so when you're in a dark room you lose a lot of -- in contrast it's even lighter than us Samsung LE DTVs from last year and even in on. LE DTVs so against you really can't get very dark matter really recommend it for that home theater healing environment. Another downside -- you lose fidelity relatively quickly when you move off -- -- those colors and blacks get a little more washed up for people who are in the sweet spot. That's a quick look at the Samsung UN EH 6000 series and I'm David Katzmaier.

Samsung UN40EH6000 Review

The good: The Samsung UNEH6000 series costs less than some other TVs that use LED backlights. Its color accuracy, video processing, and bright-room picture are very good, and it has better screen uniformity than many edge-lit LED models. I liked the thin frame around the screen, and didn't mind the cabinet's extra thickness.

The bad: Lighter black levels hamper the EH6000's picture quality compared with many TVs, including less expensive models. Its connectivity suite is anemic with just two HDMI inputs, and at this price numerous TVs offer apps and Smart TV functions that this Samsung doesn't.

The bottom line: Although it's cheaper than Samsung's ultrathin edge-lit models, the EH6000 series's value proposition is hurt by mediocre picture quality.
