>> I'm Nicole Lee, Assistant Editor at CNET.com and this is the LGVX8600. It is the flip phone version of the LG Chocolate phone. As you can see it has a very nice black glossy finish, very prone to fingerprints. On the front here is the external screen. It shows caller id, it acts as a self portrait viewfinder when the camera's activated. On top here is the 1.3 mega pixel camera lens and on the side here are the dedicated camera button and a voice recorder button, as well as a micro SD card slot. On the other side are the volume rocker and the charger jack. Also on the front here, you can really see it unless I activate it, are the touch sensitive, touch sensitive glowing red music player controls. As you can see in your fast forward, reverse, play, pause and it's kind of a pain having to activate the phone in order to press the controls here. Open it up and you see a really beautiful 2.2 inch display, very crisp and clear colors just pop from the display. The folding of that is a really flat keypad, extremely flush to the surface. It's almost impossible to dial by feel. It's very uniform in texture. Could be a problem with for some people. As far as features go, pretty good features, accessive V cast music, Vcast video which is the Verizon's streaming video service. You also have wireless web, text messaging, email, the aforementioned camera and camcorder features. It also has a music player which is of course the point of touch sensitive music controls. We didn't like the flat keypad and we didn't particularly care for the touch sensitive music controls, but all in all, it's a pretty nice, beautiful phone with great features. So if you can get past touch sensitivity of the controls and the flat keypad, it's a pretty good phone. My name is Nicole Lee, this has been the LGVX8600. ^M00:01:52 [ music ]

LG VX8600 - black (Verizon Wireless) Review
The good: The LG VX8600 is a beautiful phone that's both elegant and slim. It has a 1.3-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, stereo Bluetooth, built-in GPS, and support for V Cast Music and V Cast Video.
The bad: The LG VX8600's glossy finish is extremely prone to finger smudges. The touch-sensitive music player controls were tricky to handle, plus the phone's keypad is flush to the surface, resembling one large touchpad.
The bottom line: The LG VX8600 is a stylish successor to the LG VX8500 Chocolate, and, dare we say, a lot nicer in terms of navigation and feel. If you're wary of the Chocolate's quirky touchpad but still want a Chocolate-like phone in a clamshell design, you could do well to give the VX8600 a try.
