LG Optimus S (Sprint) Video Transcript
-I'm Nicole Lee, senior associate editor for cnet.com and this is a first look at the LG Optimus S for Sprint. The LG Optimus S looks very similar to the LG Optimus T from T-Mobile. As you can see here, both have very similar dimensions and both are shape about the same as well. The LG Optimus S has a very nice 3.2-inch QVGA display. It's very nice and colorful as you can see here. Underneath the display, you do get 4 individual keys for the home key, the menu key, the back key, as well as the search key. On the side here, you do get the micro-SD card slot. On the other side, is the volume rocker as well as the voice command key and the camera key. On the top, is the 3.5-mm headset jack and the screen lock/end power key. On the back, is the 3.2-megapixel camera lens. The LG Optimus S ships with Android 2.2, so you get up to 5 different home screens as well as the Google search widget on top here. The Optimus S is also one of the few Sprint phones to launch with Sprint ID Packs. You can choose the Sprint ID of your phone by selecting the ID button right here and then choosing from your selection. A Sprint ID Pack consists of different applications and widgets to let you personalize the phone. The Optimus S is a fairly entry-level Android Phone, but it still comes with a lot of features. They include 3G with EV-DO Rev. 0, Bluetooth support, GPS with a Sprint navigation as well as Wi-Fi. You can even use the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 different devices. The Optimus S also comes with a few Sprint apps like NASCAR, Sprint Live, and Sprint TV. The LG Optimus S is available for $49.99 with a new 2-year service agreement with Sprint. I'm Nicole Lee. LG Optimus S - charcoal (Sprint) Review
The good: The LG Optimus S has an attractive, slim profile with features that include GPS, EV-DO Rev. A, and Wi-Fi with tethering capabilities. It also has a 3.2-megapixel camera and it ships with Android 2.2.
The bad: The LG Optimus S' slower processor means it doesn't have Flash video in the browser. The camera doesn't have HD video capture or an LED flash. Call quality was mixed.
The bottom line: The LG Optimus S is an affordable yet full-featured Android smartphone for Sprint, but we did wish the call quality were better.
