-I get it. When you're the 100th 23-inch monitor with a black chassis at least in the last 3 months, it's difficult to stand out from the crowd. So in order to stand out, you go cheap and gimmicky or you use an elegant design that enhances an already good look. Hi I'm Eric Franklin, and today, we're taking the first look at the LG Flatron W2363D-PF. From just a [unk] glass, the 23-inch LG looks no different from most other 23-inchers. That is, until it's powered on. The light pulsates depending on the timing, volume of the sound, and has tons of uses. One, it allows you to rock out even more effectively, and two, nothing, there is really no utilitarian purpose to this, and it comes off feeling quite gimmicky. Beyond the light show, the monitor looks fairly typical with a glossy piano black chassis and an oval-shaped foot stand. When out from the sides, the monitor wobbles quite a bit but the foot stand is so wide and flat that we never felt it was in any danger of toppling. [Unk] include a headphone jack, 15-degree back tilt, and VESA support. Connection options include one DVI port on the back and 2 HDMI ports on the left side. The LG has a robust OSD menu that goes beyond brightness and contrast. Unfortunately, this interface isn't intuitive and at times can be very frustrating when it's hinted to get something done. In movies, the LG impressed us with its ability to show dark detail while maintaining the blacks. At the fault levels, there was a definite green tint problem but we were able to marginalize it by adjusting the RGB settings. Games had a vibrancy and color depth that matched are favorite TN monitor, the Samsung PX2370 but only after some calibration. The LG can be found online for a pretty low price and as such, it's one of the most affordable 3D monitors on the market and handles 3D like a champ.
