>> I'm Nicole Lee, Associate Editor for CNET.com and this is a First Look at the LG enV3 from Verizon Wireless. The LG enV3 is the successor to the LG enV2 of course and as you can see here it has a similar form factor with its predecessor. It has a slim candy bar look on the front, but it actually opens up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging. On the front is a small 1.56 inch external display and underneath that is a navigation array. Underneath that is the number keypad which feels a little flat to the surface. Flip the phone open and you'll find a beautiful and colorful 2.6 inch display. Underneath the display are 2 soft keys and of course a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging. It has a dedicated Favorites button that leads to a page where you can list up to 10 contacts or groups as favorites. There's also a dedicated text messaging key on the QWERTY keyboard. Next to the QWERTY keyboard arrangement is a square navigation toggle, the clear key, the speaker phone key and the send and end power keys here as well. The enV3 has plenty of features, which includes a 3.0 megapixel camera, camcorder with flash. It has settings like Smile shot, which automatically takes a picture when a smile is detected, plus Panorama Speech Mode. There's also a music player, stereo Bluetooth and EV-DO. Other features on the enV3 include a full HTML web browser, GPS and of course a slew of messaging features like text messaging, instant messaging, mobile email, mobile web email and corporate email as well. Overall, we think that the LG enV3 is an excellent improvement over the LG enV2 with a slim, user-friendly design and great features. The good: The LG enV3 has a slim and sleek appearance, with a spacious QWERTY keyboard, colorful dual displays, easy-to-use controls, plus it has updated features like a HTML Web browser and a 3.0-megapixel camera tricked out with special shot modes. Call quality is excellent as well.
The bad: The LG enV3's number keypad is a little flat to the surface, and we would've preferred a faster way to enter URLs in the Web browser. Also, Visual Voice Mail and corporate e-mail support have monthly fees.
The bottom line: The LG enV3 has an impressive design and feature set that make it one of Verizon's top messaging phones.
