>> I'm Nicole Lee, the associate editor for CNET.com and this is a first look at the LG Cosmos from Verizon Wireless. As you can see here, it looks a little bit like the LG Rumor 2, if you're familiar with that phone from Sprint. On the front here, it looks like a very normal candy bar phone. On the front here is a nice two-inch display. Here, underneath that, you do get the typical navigation controls. The number keypad here is nice and roomy. This is raised above the surface as well, so it is easy to dial by feel. When you slide the phone open, you reveal a full four-row QWERTY keyboard. The display changes from portrait mode to landscape mode. And the two keys on the side here become the two soft keys. When it's in the messaging mode right here. The keyboard is really nice and roomy. And the keys are all raised above the surface for easy texting. The keyboard also has dedicated arrow keys on the right side for navigation. Features of the LG Cosmos are pretty basic. You won't get a music player on here. And there's no video either. But you do get, of course, the messaging features like e-mail and text and multimedia messaging, as well as instant messaging. There's also GPS VZ Navigator support and Bluetooth as well. Other features of the phone include a Bing search support. You also get a social networking support that gives you quick access to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. [Background Music] The LG Cosmos is currently available for around $30 with a two-year service agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate. I'm Nicole Lee and this has been a first look at the LG Cosmos from Verizon Wireless. ^M00:01:32 [ Music ]

LG Cosmos - black (Verizon Wireless) Review

The good: The LG Cosmos has a solid and simple slider design with a tactile number keypad and a roomy QWERTY keyboard. You also get a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and GPS. Call quality is great as well.

The bad: The LG Cosmos lacks corporate e-mail support, and don't expect a music player or EV-DO on here.

The bottom line: The LG Cosmos makes a great choice for an affordable entry-level messaging phone for Verizon customers.
