>> I'm Nicole Lee, assistant editor for CNET.com and this is the LG DX8550 Chocolate phone. It is the latest chocolate from Verizon Wireless. You can see is a very nice, sleek, slider designer, similar to the first chocolate. And as the familiar glowing red lights here. But the big difference as you can see, it has a mechanical scroll wheel, similar to the iPod actually. And this is a far cry from the original chocolate, had the touch pad scroll wheel. This is far easier to use. The screen is as gorgeous as before. You get the touch screen controls, but this time they have a vibrating feedback. Slight vibrating feedback when you touch them. Moving on to the keypad. We finally have the send and empower keys in the keypad as we didn't have on the previous chocolate. And that's a dedicated camera button. The keys are all pretty well spaced apart. Actually quite easy to dial. They are kind of raised above the surface a little bit. On the side, there is a micro SD card slot, a hold switch and a music player button. On the other side you see volume control, a speaker phone button and the charger jack right here. And on the back there is a 1 point 3 mega pixel camera lens and a self portrait mirror. Features are pretty similar to the original chocolate. You get access to Verizon's V cast video services as well as V Cast music which allows for over the air download of music for only a dollar 99 cents per song. Overall we think it is a beautiful, slim, sexy slider phone. It is a far, far improvement over the original chocolate with the mechanical scroll wheel and the vibrating feedback buttons. It's available for 9999 with a two year contract from Verizon. Or you can get it as part of a set with a stereo blue tooth headset, a four gigabyte SD card, a USB cable and some software for 24999. My name is Nicole Lee and this is the LG DX 8550 phone. ^M00:02:08 [ Music ]

LG Chocolate VX8550 - blue mint (Verizon Wireless) Review

The good: The LG VX8550 Chocolate has a much improved design over the original Chocolate, with a mechanical scroll wheel that has a trace motion light, a touch pad that vibrates, and an overall sleeker look. It has an impressive multimedia feature set that includes a megapixel camera, a music player, and access to Verizon's V Cast service.

The bad: Even though we liked the vibrating feedback of the LG VX8550 Chocolate's touchpad, we still missed the feeling of tactile keys. You also have to get the Music Set, which costs more, if you want the microSD card and USB cable along with the phone.

The bottom line: The LG VX8550 Chocolate is definitely a big improvement over the original Chocolate, with a beautiful yet functional design plus a host of impressive features to boot.
