>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at cnet.com. Today we are going to take a first look at the Virgin Mobile Aloha. It's a new phone for Virgin Mobile prepaid carrier. It is Virgin Mobile's first LG phone, so it's also called the LG LX 140. Like most Virgin Mobile phones, a very very simple design, hardly any buttons or controls on the outside. Not even a volume rocker, which is kind of a bad thing, because it means when you are on the phone, you'll have to remove it to adjust the volume using the toggle here. Just has a headset jack here, just a plain front with no external display, really not a fan of that most of the time. There's also a small light that flashes here just to let you know the phone is on or when it's charging. You can turn it off though. The charger port is here on the bottom. Unfortunately this rubber tips removes completely and so have to rest it somewhere when you're charging. Kind of a small display, thought it could be a bit bigger. Very low resolution. It's only 65000 colors and not very vivid or bright and it doesn't show graphics that well. But this is a very simple phone so you kind of expect it. Moving down to the navigation keypad. These are a little flat with the surface of the phone however they are pretty big, so very nice area for your finger to move around. And the keypad buttons are raised a little bit above the surface of the phone so, pretty easy to use. The numbers on them are bright, and they are also kind of big as well. Very simple controls. Just a speakerphone. It does have voice dialing though which is kind of a surprise. Otherwise some personal organizer applications, but no camera or anything like that. So, a very simple phone just for making calls. I'm Kent German and this is the Virgin Mobile Aloha.
