>> Hi, there I'm David Katzmaier senior editor from CNET.com and I'm with the LG 50 PC 5D. This is LG's entry-level 50-inch plasma TV. It's still a pretty slick looking set in my opinion for an entry level TV. This black gloss around the edge looks really smart and there's this neat little racked back shape along the bottom here where the speakers are. Of course right between there, there's a little bit of an accent with this silver strip and the stand itself although it has this kind of semicircle on it doesn't actually rotate, but it does match the TV very well it's a nice solid stand. So that was pretty cool to see. In terms of features, the LG does have a pretty good array of picture adjustments. You can actually go into the menu and fine tune the color temperature which is something we always like to see. There is also individual input memories, two separate modes so you can actually set up two different modes for each of the inputs along with the bunch of other different picture presets. The LG around back includes two HGMI inputs, two component video inputs and a PC input. All those are standard for the breed. In terms of picture quality, we did find a lot to like about the entry level LG. Its black levels are actually very good, nice deep color of black. There is also relatively accurate color although the greens were a little bit yellowier than we like to see. On general though we did notice there was a little bit more video noise, some of the areas of the picture looked a little bit noisier especially when you sat relatively close to the screen its noise reduction wasn't quite as good as we've seen on a lot of TV?s like this. But overall, again it's a pretty good performer for an entry-level plasma. And anyway, that's a quick look at the LG 50 PC 5D and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:01:40 [ Music ]

LG 50PC5D Review
The good: Relatively inexpensive; produces a deep level of black; solid standard-definition performance; sleek design.
The bad: Some video noise; inaccurate primary color of green; inadequate color temperature controls; subpar PC performance via VGA.
The bottom line: The LG 50PC5D suffers a few picture quality faults compared to the best 50-inch plasmas, but its aggressive price and solid black levels really increase its appeal.
