The Lexus LF-CC, a high-tech concept car Video Transcript

I'm Wayne Cunningham with CNET, here at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Behind me here is a new concept form Lexus. It's the LF-CC. LF stands for L-Finesse and CC is Compact Coupe. Oscar shows a lot of the design elements that Lexus has been ruling out recently as part of their L-Finesse design language. We see this spindle grill and this big fenders. A lot of these lines are stuffs we've actually seen on some production Lexus cars like the new GS and of course the LFA. This car is the smallest car to show off some of that design stuff, and as [unk] concept we see some concept elements such as we've got this LED headlights. Really cool looking 3 LED headlights right next to each other on either side, probably not something they'd make in a production. Inside the cabin we have a lot of screens. We've got a big screen right down the console, we've got a big screen in the center. We've got an LCD instrument cluster. This concept also has a hybrid powertrain. It's got a 2.5 liter gas engine under the hood, complemented by an electric drive system. This is similar to the hybrid systems that Lexus has put in some of their other cars, and what's different about this one though, is the engine is actually a direct injection engine. Lexus says that this will put over 200 horsepower out. I'd expect a lot more with that much displays and direct injection and an electric motor. We'll have to wait and see if they actually put this out on the road. What I'm really interested about this car though is, what does it mean? Is this the new IS Mob? The current IS has been around for more than five years, and that car is definitely in need of an update. So, this car has a lot of the lines of the IS. It's similar size and all that. But one key difference is the IS is a sedan, it's got four doors. This car is a coupe. It's got two doors. Could this mean that the new IS will be a coupe or could this eventually come to the road in a four-door version? We don't know yet but really looking forward to finding out. I'm Wayne Cunningham with CNET.
