>> You know Lexus hates to get their pee-pee slapped on anything, but especially on telematics. That's exactly what's been happening. Think about it, Ford Sync from Microsoft, Mercedes TeleAid, OnStar, they all beat Lexus on telematics, perhaps until now. This is the new Lexus telematics platform being announced here at Detroit. Lexus Enform with Safety Connect. Let me show you some of the features. ^M00:00:33 [ Music ] ^M00:00:35

>> Automatic collision notification is rather OnStar-esque. You get the idea. You get into a wreck the car knows it, let's the operator know and then contact you to make sure you're okay or if you need someone sent to bail you out.

>> Safety Connect Response Center, this is Jenny [assumed spelling].

>> Stolen vehicle locator is pretty obvious. Your car gets stolen, you let them know, they'll find it.

>> 911, this is Catherine [assumed spelling]. How can I assist you?

>> Roadside assistance is pretty obvious. It's a virtual triple A.

>> Hello, Mr. Stevenson [assumed spelling]. This is the Safety Connect Response Center, how can we assist you?

>> Hi, this is kind of embarrassing, but I have run out of gas.

>> eDestination is interesting. You go to a Lexus online site, and you can start searching for places you want to go. Then when you select them, the locations are sent wirelessly to your nav system in the car, so they're all set for one-touch navigation. And it's also part of them keeping you in the Lexus lifestyle. Then there's Destination Assist. I think it's for Luddites, for people who can't figure out voice recognition or a touch screen, but still wanna use their nav system to go somewhere.

>> Lexus Enform Response Center, this is Jenny. I understand you want destination assistance.

>> And finally you can use the XM data channel to get sports scores, stock quotes and do a few other things all using they say a brand new natural language voice recognition.

>> I need traffic.

>> XM now traffic.

>> I405.

>> Slow traffic I405, [inaudible].

>> Can you get me stock information? GPJ Incorporated.

>> GPJ Incorporated, up 7 dollars, 23 cents.

>> Now Lexus Enform is gonna be available midyear summer 2009 on certain Lexus Vehicles. It will be a new version of the firmware and the hardware in the central stack. First year is free, don't know how much the annual is gonna be after that. ^M00:02:27 [ Music ]
