>> I'm Felicia Yang associate editor at CNET.com. Today we are taking a first look at the Lexmark P350 portable photo printer. This is the type of printer that's basically like a personal photo lab; instead of taking her photos into Walgreens you can just print them off of a memory card or camera directly onto this device. Because it is portable it does have a little flip up handle. One feature I really like about this one is that the LCD flips up, so you can optimize your viewing angle depending on your lighting conditions. It has a standard nav. buttons, redeye reduction, photo editing features and things like that. It also has built-in memory card slots that take most types of memory cards, some may require an adapter. And it also has picture Bridgeport on the front and so that means you can print from any picture bridge enabled to camera directly. With the USB port here you can also plug in like a flash thumb drive and transfer photos from your memory card to your flash drive. You can also transfer photos from your memory card to your PC if you like. Another interesting thing I found about this printer is that the recommended paper, it's sort of neither matte nor glossy, it's definitely not glossy and it's not matte in the way that traditional matte paper is, it doesn't have any texture. When it prints up it has kind of a magazine or postcard quality to it. The image is decent; it's a little bit flat because of that feature though. Aside from a decent print quality this was a little bit slow when it came to printing 4 by 6 photos, it gave us about 0.56 pages per minute which is to say it takes almost 2 minutes to print one 4 by 6 photo, that's almost twice as long as it took the Epson picture mate pal, which is only about $20 more than this one. Other than that it's a decent performer if you need your space of quality and you want the convenience of printing at home, this is a pretty good contender for a home photo lab. Lexmark P350 portable photo printer Review
The good: Small, compact body; inexpensive; reasonable print costs; decent print quality; adjustable LCD.
The bad: Slow print speeds; limited image enhancements; included desktop software is limited in range; no battery option.
The bottom line: The Lexmark P350 snapshot photo printer is less expensive than the competition, but its slower print speeds and somewhat half-baked features make it less attractive.
