I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here taking a look at Lenovo's updated back to school line of traditional clamshell laptops. They've got some interesting updates to some laptops that may look pretty familiar. We've got the U-series, now we have the U330 Touch and U430 Touch. These are ultrabook style laptops, but now of course they have touchscreens and more importantly they've been updated to Intel's current 4th generation processors also known as Haswell. Those are great for battery life and in 14-inch you can even add Nvidia discrete graphics. Then we've got the Y410, that's a gaming laptop not the first thing you think of when you think of Lenovo. We've like earlier versions of this laptop and this new one, again has the latest Intel processors, that's great, but you can't get it with a touchscreen which is a little bit of a disappointment. And finally, Lenovo's S-series which are very inexpensive systems that are still pretty decent. Here we've got the S210 Touch with-- which is an 11-inch laptop that adds a touchscreen which is a great feature to find on a lower cost laptop and there's also the S400 that's a 14-inch with a touchscreen that should also be fairly inexpensive and even have AMD graphics that catch with both these systems is. They have the last generation Intel CPUs, not the new ones that we call Haswell, but for-- you know-- usually under $500, I guess for both of these, that's not too bad at all. I'm Dan Ackerman with Lenovo's updated back to school laptop line.
A sharp-looking mainstream laptop with decent graphics and some configuration flexibility, the IdeaPad Y570 is a solid alternative to some of the better-known consumer laptop brands.
Combining AMD's excellent ultraportable Fusion platform with Lenovo's consumer-friendly IdeaPad designs, the S205 is a solid, if unexciting 11-inch laptop ideal for on-the-go websurfing.
Lenovo's 14-inch IdeaPad Y460 is a well-designed gaming-multimedia laptop, but in this price range, the competition is also bringing its 'A' game.
The 11.1-inch Lenovo IdeaPad U110 is the most beautiful laptop we've seen in years, and behind those good looks is a well-appointed, fairly priced ultraportable. Despite a few minor nitpicks, we recommend the IdeaPad U110 to those who want a lightweight, eye-catching laptop for frequent travel.
Online media consumers who want a portable laptop with high style and plenty of screen real estate should give the Y650 a look.
This feature-filled midsize gaming laptop has almost everything you'd want, except for a touch screen.
An ultraportable hybrid that smartly puts the laptop first.
Lenovos 799 ultrabook is perfectly priced in time for back to school shopping.
This 13-inch Core i5 laptop won't turn any heads, but if gotten at the right price this could be an excellent budget computer to consider.
It's the next MacBook. Just kidding! But, seriously, Lenovo's sleek 14-inch non-ultrabook laptop has an undeniably Apple-ish look.
