>> Hi, I'm Dan Ackerman, Senior Editor at CNET.com and we are here taking a look at the Lenovo ThinkPad X200. This incredibly pipe of the new ultraportable from Lenovo, it's an ultraportable because it has a 12-inch screen. It's actually a winner of our coveted Editors' Choice Award. However, there are a couple of important, very important caveats that may be a deal-breaker for you. Number one obviously if you're taking a look at the system you've got the familiar ThinkPad little TrackPoint right here and the TrackPoint mouse buttons, but there's no touch pad. There's actually a little space right here on the wrist pad where the touch pad could conceivably go, but it is not on this model and a lot of people are just not comfortable with using a laptop without a touchpad and I'm probably one of those people that has a very hard time using anything else. Deal breaker number two, no optical drive. A lot of 12-inch laptops have optical drives to these days. This one does not. I'm actually used to not having an optical drives because I use a lot of Notebooks and other smaller laptops. I don't find that to be too big of a problem, but again, if you need an optical drive, the X200 is not the laptop for you. There are a lot of things we love about the X200 of course number one is you get Lenovo's legendary ThinkPad construction, very solidly built on they're awfully ton of wireless connectivity options and of course you get the fabled ThinkPad keyboard which is among the best in the business. And even more important you get the ThinkVantage sweet of software controls right here that's one button that launches a little app that has all your security and configuration options right there easy to get to. So all these features add up to make the X200 one of the best ultraportable business laptops we've seen if you can get away with not having an optical drive and a touch pad. I'm Dan Ackerman and that is the Lenovo ThinkPad X200. ^M00:01:49 [ Music ]

Lenovo ThinkPad USB Secure Hard Drive

We're impressed by the Lenovo ThinkPad USB Secure Hard Drive's burly security features and rigorous performance results, but the bloated price tag prevents us from recommending it to anyone other than business consumers. If you're shopping for an external hard drive, competing drives give you a cheaper cost per gigabyte in a fancier package.

In the Lenovo ThinkPad R61, the IBM blueprint is still strong, but the addition of a wide-screen display and all the latest Centrino Duo tricks keep things at least semicurrent.
