Lenovo IdeaCentre B520 Video Transcript

Hi! I'm Rick Brown, senior editor for CNET, we're here at CES 2011. We are gonna take a look at the Lenovo IdeaCentre B520. So, this is a new Lenovo all-in-one, and now it's here to show. It's coming out in June of this coming year and the starting price is 999. It's a 23.6-inch display and we like the system. We nominated it for best of CES mostly because it's an all-in-one with 3D built in. It's one of the first all-in-ones we've seen with that as well as one of the first from a major vendor in the US. So, it's pretty exciting. We think all-in-ones with 3D built-in makes a ton of sense. So just for that feature alone, this system is really pretty compelling. Like most all-in-ones, of course it has a touch screen. You can see Lenovo has got the basic window screen here. If we hit this button though, we can watch Lenovo as costumed-touch interface. It's got some games, photo, video, music applications. If you go deeper and you can see Lenovo has got some specialized apps/designs specifically for this system. If we go around the back of the system, we will see a couple of ports. We've got an SD card slot over here, a couple of USB jacks, audio out, and around the back, we got HDMI in and out, which are features we'd both love to see on an all-in-one in particular. The system was also pretty unique because it has 2 graphic chips inside. It's not very common for all-in-ones. Heat and thermal issues tend to make that kind of a challenge and this is actually a little bit noisy right now, so we are hoping that for the 6 months or so, Lenovo can kind of get that sound down-- sound level down a little bit. We actually have some Lenovo reps over here and they informed me that it is actually April when the system is coming out globally anyway. It may come out June in the US, but it kinda depends on what the market is gonna do. We should also point out that this is an Intel Sandy Bridge equipped system. It comes with Core i5 or Core i7 depending on the price point. So this has some pretty good multimedia features. It comes with a Blu-Ray drive over her as well as a 5.1 speaker bar down here along the bottom edge. So, I'm Rick Brown, this is the Lenovo IdeaCentre B520.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 is a decent attempt to compete with other budget gaming PCs, but a few configuration misses prevent a stronger recommendation. It's best for mainstream shoppers looking for a combination of basic 3D power and Blu-ray playback capability.

Lenovo IdeaCentre A600

The heart of Lenovo's IdeaCentre A600 is in the right place, offering a 21.5-inch LCD-based all-in-one for less than $800. But a faster competitor and a careless design turns us off from this particular A600 configuration. You might consider a different A600 build if you can live with the design, but we can't recommend the $749 version.
