Kyocera Torque is Sprint's ultra-tough touchscreen phone Video Transcript
-Helly everybody. It's Lynn La from CNET, and I'm here with the ultra-tough Kyocera Torque from Sprint. The Torque is a rugged phone that also retains all that Android touchscreen sensibility. As you can see, it's not the sleekest handset to pull out of your pocket or purse, but it is dust, shock, and waterproof. You can even dunk it in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes. It has a 4-inch WVGA display with an 800 x 480-pixel resolution. In addition, it runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has a 1.2-gigahertz dual-core processor. Inside this 4G LTE handset, there's a 2.5-ampere-hour battery and a microSD card slot that's expandable up to 32GB. The Torque is also Kyocera's first U.S. phone to feature its Smart Sonic Receiver technology. This means that, in lieu of an in-ear speaker, the phone is equipped with a ceramic transducer inside. This transmits sound waves from the phone into the cartilage of your ear, boosting audio quality and clarity. You also get a 5-megapixel camera in the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Also, in the front are dual speakers that are very loud which are perfect when you're outdoors. Additional features include 1GB of RAM, NFC, Sprint's push-to-talk Direct Connect, and a software feature called Maximizer. This lets you limit the data connection of apps running in the background to conserve battery life. The handset is available now, and it's currently going for $99.99 after users sign a two-year contract and send in a mail-in rebate. Again, I'm Lynn and this has been Sprint's Kyocera Torque.
