>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we are going to take a first look at the Kiocera[SP?] Cyclops also called the K325; this is the new phone for Virgin mobile service. The name Cyclops comes directly from this big thing here, that is the camera lens, it does sort of give it the appearance of a one eyed monster in some ways, although I really like the design overall. I thought it was definitely unique, like the red and white color, more like a red and off-white, but it's true it's a Virgin Mobile phone. Found the camera lens placement great and also really liked the external display. Kiocera has done this a couple times now, put in a vertical display, really like that I think it's a bit unique and also since the phone is so vertical it just matches well. Does everything you know though, date, time, battery life, signal sync, call ID, just not photo caller ID. Down here you have a small speaker, and here on this side you have a volume rocker, headset jack, dedicated camera button while no controls on this side. Inside the phone, internal display is fine but not the greatest resolution, but it is big for the phone size and is decent for viewing everything you need to. Virgin mobile doesn't make their phones really high end so it's acceptable that they put this kind of screen on it. Moving down the navigation keypad, like the design here as well, like the circular navigation toggle, the okay button in the middle. However we thought it was a little bit annoying that in standby mode, the okay button directly opens the camera, instead of going to the menu, it would be a little bit better if you could just press that side button to activate the camera. Over all this does have a mega pixel camera that is Virgin Mobil's first. Doesn't have Bluetooth yet, I think it's about time Virgin mobile ads that feature into one of its phones, but overall it's a very decent phone and one of the better we've seen from the carrier. I'm Kent German and this is the Kiocera Cyclops 8325. ^M00:01:42 [ Music ]
