>> Hi. I'm Justin Yu, assistant editor for CNET.com, here today with the Koss PortaPro headphones. Koss first started manufacturing these things in 1984, and they've since been in production for 24 years with a massive cult following. A lot of people like these headphones and so did we. Koss hasn't changed the design since 1984 and you can tell by the sort of quirky, retro design that they take on. They have two pieces here with pads that sit up against your ear and your temple. And when you put them on they sort of make you look like a character out of Tron or Star Trek. These headphones fit over your head, and they tension against it using these two sliders here, which can be a little problematic since they have a tendency to catch on your hair. It can be a little bit painful when you take them on and off. One of the things we liked is this comfort zone switch here that adjusts and loosens the tension against your temple. The headphones also collapse into themselves and clip together for easy transport. Once you actually get them on your head, they're very comfortable. And after a while, you'll probably forget that you actually have them on. One thing that you should keeping mind, however, is that these definitely aren't in ear monitor headphones. They're not designed for sound isolation so you'll definitely get a lot of sound leaking from the headphones. The headphones have an incredible range of sound and instrument separation. We even heard notes and parts of the music that we didn't hear before in other headphones. As far as sub $100.00 headphones go, this is definitely one of the best set of cans that you can buy, both for portable and at home use. This is Justin Yu, and these are the Koss PortaPro headphones. ^M00:01:30 [ Music ]

Koss PortaPro Headphones Review
The good: The Koss PortaPro Headphones combine a functional design with excellent 3D sound and a low price tag.
The bad: Hair gets caught in the collapsible band; some people will dislike the '80s aesthetic.
The bottom line: Koss hit a home run with the PortaPros. Love or hate the design, there's no denying the sound quality here: they're the ideal companion for mobile audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts.
