>> I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm here with the Kodak Zx1. This is an HD mini-camcorder. It shoots in 720p and you won't get the same quality as you get with a true HD camcorder, but it still shoots pretty impressive video for a camcorder this small. It doesn't change that much from its previous model the Zi6 inside anyway. The idea here is that it's gone with a more rugged design. It's also a little bit bigger than the Flip Video Mino for instance or the Creative Vado HD. It uses AA batteries. It comes with a set of two rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries. It comes with the charger. Now one of the issues with the camcorder is that it doesn't really come with any memory built-in. You have to supply your own SD card. It does support SDHC cards up to 32-gigabytes. We had a little bit trouble figuring out initially what all the buttons did. Some of the buttons do two things in different modes, so what -- but once you figure that out it becomes pretty intuitive. All ports have rubberized seals and you can connect it straight to your HD TV with the included HDMI cable. There's also a standard composite cable for non-HD TVs and you do get a thin carrying pouch and a wrist strap. There is a little IR port at the top. This does not come with a remote control, but you can purchase an optional remote control. This USB model doesn't have a USB connector built right into the camcorder. You actually have to use a cable and that cable is a proprietary cable. That's not your standard USB connection. You can also use a tripod, there's a threaded tripod mount on the bottom. The video quality on the previous model was pretty good and this one is pretty good, too. The key thing about these guys is you can blow-up the video, something larger like a TV and you still retain some of the sharpness. There's a tinny bit more noise in the video than what you get with say a Flip Mino HD, but all -- and all the video is pretty good on this. In the end really the Zx1 is really about a design choice. If you like the design, if you want something a little bit more rugged, something like this is going to serve you pretty well and it's a pretty decent deal around $150 or less online.
