Kodak PlaySport Zx5 Video
Kodak PlaySport Zx5 Video Transcript
Hey, I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor with CNET and this is a look at the Kodak Playsport Zx5. This is the company's 3rd go round with the rugged, pocket video camera each time making it more durable. 2010 Zx3 was waterproof and dustproof. This one is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof. It doesn't mean that's indestructible but it can handle more abuse than a regular minicamcorder. Now, aside from that, it's pretty much a typical minicamcorder. Things I like are the autofocus lens, easy to use controls, and simple menu layout, and extras like Kodak's Glare Shield for better screen visibility and very good sharing options. Things I don't like are the non-removable battery and there is no swing-out USB arm. So, you'll always need a cable for sharing and charging. Video quality isn't perfect but still very good for this type of device and when you add in its ruggedness, you've got a pretty sweet deal for a quickly and easily capturing movie clips in less than ideal conditions for electronics. I'm Josh Goldman and that's a look at the Kodak Playsport Zx5.

Kodak PlaySport Zx5 (black) Review
The good: The waterproof/shockproof Kodak PlaySport Zx5 produces very good video quality for its price and size, is easy to use, and has good editing/sharing software.
The bad: The PlaySport doesn't have a built-in USB connector, there's no flash or video light, and the battery can't be removed.
The bottom line: The rugged Kodak PlaySport Zx5 is a very good minicamcorder, but falls just shy of improving on last year's model, despite being more durable.
