IF YOU'RE SHOPPING FOR A NEW OUTPUT DEVICE FOR A SMALL BUSINESS AND NEED A LOW VOLUME PRINTER THAT CAN OUTPUT HIGH QUALITY SHOTS, THE KODAK ESP OFFICE 2170 IS WORTH A LOOK. HI I'M JUSTIN YU WITH CNET. COM AND THIS IS YOUR FIRST LOOK AT THE KODAK ESP 2170 ALL IN ONE MULTIFUNCTION PRINTER. IT'S A FOUR IN ONE DEVICE THAT CAN PRINT, COPY, AND SCAN ON A BUDGET THANKS TO A NEW PRINT ENGINE INSIDE THAT SEPARATE THE PRINT HEADS FROM THE DUAL INK CARTRIDGES. THAT MEANS KODAK KEEPS THE INK COSTS LOW, WHICH IS NORMALLY WHERE PRINTERS RAIL YOU AFTER YOU'VE ALREADY BOUGHT THE HARDWARE. WITH THE 2170, YOU'LL PAY A LITTLE UNDER 4 CENTS PER PAGE OF BLACK INK AND 11 CENTS PER COLOR PAGE. THE CONTROL PANEL HAS ALL THE BUTTONS YOU NEED TO ACCESS THE FEATURES, BUT WE WISH THE DISPLAY WERE BIGGER, ESPECIALLY SINCE KODAK ENCOURAGES YOU TO PRINT OUT SNAPSHOT PHOTOS WITH A NEW 3D PRINT FEATURE. THE HOME CENTER SOFTWARE INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE LETS YOU OUTPUT STEREOSCOPIC 3D IMAGES, MEANING YOU'LL NEED A PAIR OF THOSE GOOFY RED AND BLUE GLASSES TO MAKE THE IMAGE POP, AND YOU ALSO HAVE TO TAKE TWO PICTURES OF YOUR SUBJECT, ONE THREE INCHES APART FROM THE OTHER, TO SEE IT IN 3D. THE DRAW IS DEFINITELY A NOVETY, AND WE CAN'T SEE IT BEING A BIG SELLING POINT FOR CONSUMERS. IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE, THE 2170 NEITHER IMPRESSED NOR DISAPPOINTED US, BUT IF YOU'RE IMPATIENT OR HAVE A BIG OFFICE AND NEED A HIGH VOLUME DEVICE, KEEP SHOPPING. THE KODAK GAVE AVERAGE PRINT SPEEDS ACROSS ALL FOUR OF OUR TESTS, BUT TRUE TO ITS OFFICE MONIKER, IT PRINTED GRAPHICS-HEAVY AND PRESENTATION DOCUMENTS THE QUICKEST. YOU CAN READ ALL THE DETAILS INCLUDING QUALITY TEST RESULTS IN OUR FULL REVIEW ON CNET.COM, BUT THAT'S GONNA DO IT FOR ME. I'M JUSTIN YU, AND YOU JUST TOOK A FIRST LOOK AT THE KODAK ESP OFFICE 2170, THANKS FOR WATCHING.
Stay away from the Kodak ESP C310 if you're shopping for a new all-in-one printer. Competing $100 models like the Canon MX410 or the Lexmark Impact S305 offer similar features in a tighter package.
Aside from a few design hang-ups and a slower than average output speed, the Lexmark X7675 Professional all-in-one printer is a cut above other multifunctional printers. Its excellent quality prints, easy to setup wireless connectivity, and generous five-year warranty catapult it to the top of our list of favorites.
Kodak's Wi-Fi-capable EasyShare One is a below-average camera with superior photo-sharing skills.
Kodak's EasyShare M1033 is a better-than-average budget ultracompact.
If you don't mind just average photos, the DX7590 will appeal to snapshooters looking for more control.
Despite its remote-printing capabilities, the Kodak ESP 3.2's design blunders and inconsistent performance are unacceptable in the face of competing multifunctions in the sub-$100 category.

Aside from the never-ending name, the HP Photosmart Premium TouchSmart Web All-in-One Printer looks good and prints high-quality photos at competitive speeds. We also appreciate effort put into the downloadable applications for the interactive touch screen, but the innovation is offset by a hefty price tag. Unless Web-connectivity and touch screens are a top priority, we recommend checking out HP's Photosmart multifunction printers that still offer high performance at a much lower cost.
Our editors give you a sneak peek at the Kodak EasyShare Z740 and EasyShare Printer Dock from the floor at CES.
The Kodak Playsport is a camera that can record video and is waterproof in up to 3 meters of water.
Kodak ESP Office 2170 All-in-One Review
The good: The Kodak ESP Office 2170 proves to be a capable home office performer, with an impressive software bundle, simple installation, and a new print engine design that keeps ink costs low.
The bad: The printer lacks double-sided printing and has a small LCD screen that hinders photo-editing functionality. Also, Kodak's All-in-One Home Center software works only with Windows, leaving Mac users without 3D printing or photo-editing features.
The bottom line: The Kodak ESP 2170 is worthwhile if you run a small business and need a low-volume printer that can output high-quality snapshot photos, but bigger offices and Mac users should keep shopping.
