>> Seth Rosenblatt: Whether you just can't be bothered typing in your credentials, or you want an added layer of security, Key Lemon is a slick app that uses your webcam and facial recognition technology to log you in to your computer. Hi, I'm Seth Rosenblatt for CNET download.com, and in this first look video, I'm going to show you Key Lemon, which bolsters your existing text-based logins with real-time webcam footage. Once installed, the program's wizard will walk you through creating a profile of your face and link it to your computer's login. From there, Key Lemon defaults to checking the webcam every ten seconds, although you can bypass it with your text-based login. If the face in front of the webcam isn't yours, Key Lemon locks the computer, but not before taking a photo of the hijacker. Here you can see a CNET coworker who generously donated her face to test out the hijacking feature. Our legal department tells me that she is not in fact a criminal of any kind. Anyway, other customizations are accessible under the Lemon login and Lemon screen tabs. These include being able to toggle on and off the login feature, configuring the program to run at startup, customizing how often Key Lemon checks the webcam and creating your own skins. Key Lemon can log you into more than just your computer. The Lemon Fox plugin for Firefox that comes with the program can be used to log you into your Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter accounts. Just like the main program, Lemon Fox opens to a tutorial to get you started and it uses the webcam to prevent unauthorized access. At least on the computer with Key Lemon installed. I encountered few problems during testing. Sometimes the facial recognition software wouldn't actually recognize me, although it did work more than 90 percent of the time. Also, it didn't like my jumping around from the laptop docked to undocked mode, forcing me to reboot. Overall, though, it seems like a solid software tool for adding an extra layer of security to your computer for a reasonable price. The trial limits you to 30 uses, but has no major feature restrictions. A one-year license retails for $19.95 and is compatible with XP, Vista and Windows 7. With a first look at Key Lemon, I'm Seth Rosenblatt for download.com. ^M00:02:14 [ Music ]
