>> I'm John Falcone, senior editor at CNET.com. And this is the KET [assumed spelling] universal wireless system. This is an accessory set that's designed to be paired with any surround sound speaker system. What it does is just eliminates the wires from the front of the room to the rear surround speakers in the back. Sort of really simple three piece system, and very straight forward. You just have the transmitter that you hook up to your AV receiver or your audio source, and these twin receivers, they go in the back of the room and are attached to the speakers with regular speaker wire. It's really simple, it's really straight forward, it's pretty much plug and play. And it works exactly as advertised. This is about as close as a wireless system could come to duplicating wired sound quality, really excellent, worth the premium that KET charges, versus a lot of the generic wireless systems out there. But one big drawback, as usual there are quite a lot of wires for this wireless speaker system. That's because all three of these modules need power, so they have to be plugged into an AC outlet. The two speaker modules, they need to be wired to their matching speakers, and the transmitter needs to be wired up to the AV receiver, or whatever else your audio source is. [ background music ] The KET universal wireless system really gets the job done. I'm John Falcone for CNET, and this is the KET universal wireless system. ^M00:01:29 [ music ]

KEF Universal Wireless Kit Review
The good: Universal two-channel 2.4GHz wireless speaker system; easy to set up; wireless receivers include 50-watt digital power amplifiers; works with any surround speakers with standard speaker wire; also doubles as a powered wireless iPod speaker system or as a wireless system "zone 2" system in a nearby room.
The bad: Very expensive; still requires cables for power and speaker wires; critical listeners will notice occasional popping.
The bottom line: While it costs a bundle, KEF's Universal Wireless System makes good on its promise to deliver CD-quality sound to any brand of speakers.
