>> I'm John Falcone, senior editor at CNET.com, and this is the Keth [assumed spelling] KHT 5005.2 surround speaker system. This is a complete 5.1 system, comes all together in one box, and you get four satellites, center channel speaker, and this really unique round shape 250 watt powered sub-woofer as well, one of the cooler looking sub-woofers we've ever seen. The real attraction of this system is its combination of great style, great look and feel, and its excellent sound quality. You can't really see it because these grills are non-removable, but inside there are three drivers, and then an extra woofer in there. It's just a really efficient design, all five of the speakers have a nice weighty feel to them, and the connectivity is pretty simple, just standard high quality, although not five way bining [assumed spelling] post on the bottom of all the satellites. And this is, the center speaker is just one of these tipped sideways essentially. Each of the speakers come with table stands, it's already attached here. They also come with wall mounting brackets, and if you prefer you can also buy four stands as well. And there's also a really great Keth wireless kit available that is specifically designed for these speakers. You're really getting an excellent sound quality on music and movies, and you're really getting some of the best looking speakers we've seen in a long time. And it's that combination of style and sound quality that make the Keth, KHT 5005.2 system such a great deal, even at its relatively high price. KEF KHT5005.2 (black) Review
The good: Sleek aluminum satellite speakers use unique driver technology to produce incredible clarity; three drivers per speaker; compact, donut-shaped, dual 10-inch, 250-watt powered subwoofer; table and wall mounts included; floor stands are available.
The bad: Expensive; can't rock out or deliver home theater fury on the same level as a full-size speaker system.
The bottom line: KEF's KHT-5005.2 is one of the few surround speaker packages to coax audiophile sound from lifestyle-friendly speakers and a subwoofer.
