Stateless are one of Leeds' most exciting bands, currently on course to explode all over the music world. The band fuses a conventional band set-up of vocals (Chris James), bass (Justin Percival) and drums (David Levin) with the electronic mesh of turntables (Kidkanevil) and live programming (Rod). Stateless recently finished recording their self-titled debut album with producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian), who passed on some tracks to the mighty DJ Shadow. THE ADORED combine elements of discopunk, new wave, and pure power pop to create an intelligent yet catchy, different yet danceable sound. Inspired by the likes of The Clash, The Jam, and Blur, scenepointblank.com calls them Garagey, catchy, and as much as I hate the word, sassy. The Adored were born when four best friends and bon vivants joined up to make spiky party music. What came out draws from the more angular elements of early punk & postpunk and the less pompous elements of fin-de-siecle Britpop. Ryan (vocals) and Nat (drums) met in the mid-90s in NorCal and both played with a locally legendary punk band before moving southward. Max (bass) and Drew (guitar) met as students in Boston, studying media, all the while dreaming of a Los Angeles pop life. The four finally came together in LA and never looked back. So far, their adventures as Hollywood golden boys have included shows with eclectic artists new and old like Supergrass, The Zombies, Ima Robot, Bow Wow Wow, The Futureheads and Les Sav Fav. The Adored have also performed at parties hosted by members of buzz bands Mount Sims, Interpol and the Moving Units. The band has also appeared in clips on the UK?s Channel Four and Southern California?s Fox 11 ---as the current LA ?it band?! With mentions in the NME, the California press, and a grassroots network of blogs and webzines have all helped build an international fan base for the Adored. Again and again, they have performed in San Francisco, Las Vegas and Californias beach counties, bringing their music to grateful, music starved suburban scenesters and leaving their mark on the West Coast. The boys finished a successful 4-night mini-tour to New York City this spring and a weekly residency at Sunset Strips KEY CLUB. Following a 4-song demo in 2003, the Adored recorded a 5-song EP for V2 Records in fall 2004, with producer Dave Trumfio and a special guest vocalist friend and mutual fan Pete Shelley [Buzzcocks]. Due in stores January 2005. While there are hints of everything from shoegazing post-rock, 80's Brit-pop, and gritty hardcore on their second and debut on Five One, Inc. entitled The Grand Exposure, Return To Sender are grounded in a style of rock music that is hard to find amongst todays scene darlings.

After a 14-year career that has defined the word "uncompromising", the Coup return armed with bigger funk and taller tales.

This was a time where my breaths were shallow and each morning my dreams would end to stare cold hard reality in the face. This was a time where I needed God and the raw, eternal hope in his promises found in the words he has spoken through mortals. I turned to the Psalms and found David venting his own times of being caught between a rock and hard place, expressing his fear, his doubt, his hope in God and his promises amidst the struggles of his life. Then I ran across Psalm 22, a vivid prophetic scriptural account of Christ when he is hanging on the cross. A moment in eternity where I feel Christ most relates to my own humanity... and when God turned his face away. A place where I find myself feeling like I've fallen out of fellowship with Jesus. They play DISCO. But not so much mixing it with (Post) Punk and New Wave like so many other bands right now. WhoMadeWho use lot more influences: from Surfrock to Folk to 70ies Funk. And sometimes it feels like the guys heard a dose of Italodisco and Cosmic tapes before recording. One of the interesting things about WhoMadeWho is the fact that all the three members have totally different backgrounds. Tomas Barfod the drummer is known as one of Skandinavia's best electronic DJ's and has published acclaimed records on Get Physical, Kitsune and Gomma under his moniker TOMBOY. Jeppe Kjellberg , guitar player, used to live in NYC where he was established in the local Avantgarde Jazz scene. He even recorded an album with former Lounge Lizzard guitar player DAVIS TRONZO. And Tomas Hoeffding (the bass player) is also member of Danish garage rock band Garbo.. The band released only three singles in the last year - but these 12inches caused a good buzz and heavy rotations with DJ's all over the place. Especially the single SPACE FOR RENT (and The Rapture's remix of it) is currently getting a huge response (Leftfield single of the issue in DJ mag), and their cover version of Benny Benassi's Satisfaction is still a hit in many clubs. The album?s second single OUT THE DOOR was remixed by French producers IN FLAGRANTI and SUPERDISCOUNT and has been getting good exposure in clubs worldwide. Pete Tongfeatured it in his Radio One Essential charts and 2 MANY DJ?s featured a few WhoMadeWho Songs in their latest Radio One mix. MTV in France and Italy and MTV in UK put the video on rotation. The 2 MANY DJ'S/ SOULWAX guys are such huge fans of WhoMadeWho that they invited the band to do their live support on their big UK tour in autumn 2005. Sage Francis began rapping when he was 8 years old. Hidden in a closet in his parents' Rhode Island home, he'd rhyme into a cheap tape recorder for hours on end. By age 12 he was sneaking out to battle other Providence emcees, entering talent contests and learning the finer points of showmanship, if not the sizeable advantage that, well, size offers where confrontation is concerned. The kid had a calling, and he wasn't going to let anything---shitty equipment, stature, homework---slow his roll. Today, at 27, the man has a reputation. Several, actually. You might know him simply as a battle emcee or a spoken word poet. Heart-draining confessionalist or Old School revivalist. Political dissident, DIY business expert, friend, asshole, or one-time ice cream server. Hell, you might even know him as hip-hop's doom. Or the art form's redemption, for that matter. Sage Francis is many things to many people---and probably even more to himself---but if there's anything he isn't, it's quiet.
Head-nod with finesse? Or is that rock with finesse? Philadelphia-based artist, Hezekiah intends on redefining the boundaries of hip-hop with his debut long player, Hurry Up and Wait on Soulspazm Records. Scheduled for release in the beginning of 2005, Hurry up and Wait is a multi-layered soundscape of rich yet breathable melodies, powerful wordplay and punctuating percussion. While the album will have its fair share of notable guests (including Bahamadia, Grand Agent, Santi White (Stiffed), and Scratch (Legendary Roots Crew) the bulk of the album is intended to give its author's namesake the long overdue shine Hezekiah has been after for some time. Raised just south of Philadelphia in Delaware, Hezekiah grew up in the home of his mother and father where the sounds of Otis Redding, Bo Diddley and countless other blues records were in constant rotation on the hi-fi. Young and impressionable, Hezekiah soaked up the sounds of his musically trained family, and began to develop a love for music and eventually a sound of his own. But where Hezekiah would differ from the musicians in his family, would be in the adoption of digitally-based samplers, sequencers and synthesizers; the proverbial stew of hip-hop music. Hezekiah worked up the ranks within the Philadelphia underground hip-hop scene through his perseverance and talent as an emcee. Recognized for his exceptional live stage performances, Hezekiah continued to build his reputation as an influential artist working with many local independents. Indeed staying true to his diverse musical roots, Hezekiah was none too afraid to challenge as many genres of music he could, leading him to work with some of Philadelphia's most talented performers including R&B duet, the Jazzyfatnastees, Bahamadia, and Aaries. Most recently, Hezekiah received an invitation from Dawn Thompson (sister of Ahmir Thompson of The Roots), to co-produce the score for an episode of the Showtime Network's original series Street Time. Hezekiah continues to broaden his musical scope, dabbling in all aspects of art and business including emceeing, producing, singing as well as organizing the live hip-hop producer's roundtable, Beat Society. As a venerable do-it-yourself mastermind, it's no surprise that his new album carries the title, Hurry up and Wait; a reference Hezekiah says any independent artist can relate to, as the trials of making things happen on your own terms (without a major label) tend to wear on the creative mind. But be that as it may, Hezekiah accepts the challenge, and looks forward to the release of his first full length album. As a means to endure the long stretch to the finish, Hez continues to enjoy the ride of his own funky drum line, on a road that is none too short of adventures in synthesized harmony.
