>> Hey everyone, I'm Jeff Bakalar, Assistant editor here at CNET.com. Today I'm here with the JVC TH-L1. Now, the TH-L1 is unlike any home theater in a box we've ever seen. It has dual DHMI support for sources up to 1080p. It allows you to switch between the two as well, which is something very cool. The size of the TH-L1 is small, it stands up vertically, which is unlike anything we've ever seen, which means it's really not gonna take up a lot of space on your AV rack or wherever you decide to put it. On the front you will find that it has various inputs, which is very convenient making it very versatile. Also, a USB port and an iPod dock interface on the front of it. So, not only does it allow two HDMI's, it also allows two component inputs. Now, with all these HDMI and component inputs, you can only have three devices hooked-up at once. HDMI and component share video 1 and video 2, so you're gonna have to mix and match until you get the settings that are, that satisfy your individual set up. Few things we didn't like about the TH-L1 the onscreen interface that you're gonna have to navigate when you hook up a USB device is really outdated, it's tough to navigate. And also, the remote isn't really laid out the way we would like to see it. There's a lot of buttons there that confuse you and it's really not as easy to use as we would like. Overall the sound quality from the TH-L1 is pretty good for a small room. You're not gonna want this to try and fill up a huge family room. We'd recommend it for a dorm room or a smaller game room if you have one. It's really good for video game consoles, stuff of that nature. I'm Jeff Bakalar and this has been the JVC TH-L1.

Although it's a tough, full-featured, well-built medium zoom lens, the Nikon AF-S DX 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 G ED VR's relatively high price tag may nevertheless make you want to consider other options.
The Sony HT-SS360 is an inexpensive home theater system with generous HDMI connectivity and satisfying sound on movies, but don't expect it to deliver with music.
The Sharp LC-37D40U delivers some of the deepest blacks and very good overall image quality for an LCD, making it worth the extra dough for home-theater fans.
JVC TH-L1 Review
The good: Tiny bookshelf-size home theater in a box; numerous connectivity options including two HDMI inputs that support up to 1080p; USB port for digital media; iPod audio and video playback; attractive price point.
The bad: No built-in DVD player; small speakers and relatively low wattage limit power and sound quality; supports only three concurrent AV sources; no HDMI up-conversion for analog video sources; USB mode requires you to select the type of media before you play it; new iPods will only be able to play audio through the unit.
The bottom line: While the sound isn't overpowering, the wealth of connectivity options and features bundled into the JVC TH-L1 home theater in a box makes it well worth the inexpensive price tag.
