>> Hello, I'm David Katzmaier, senior editor from the CNET.com and with the JVC HD 56FN97. This is a 56 inch rear projection HD TV. This is JVC?s top of the line model this year. They do make a larger one but you know it's basically in terms of features as good as it gets. The set, one of the things I really like about it is around the edge of the picture it's very thin bezel as you can see. Just a really almost, all picture look around the edge screen here and most of the cabinet space is reserved for the bottom where you can find the speakers and the little pedestal stand here. So for a rear projection TV that's 56 inches is definitely one of most compact on the market. As I mentioned, there is a pretty good feature set on this television. Around back, you'll find a pair of HDMI inputs, two component video inputs, and PC input. One nitpick however the PC input doesn't go all the way up to the to this TV need of resolution 1920 by 1080 so if you're really a stickler about getting the highest resolution computer source from your HD TV then you might want to look at another model. Aside from that, it's an extremely well featured TV; it also has a cable card slot on the back. So you can connect digital cable without having the cable box. When it came time to adjust the picture, we found a good range of options, including and iris control, which allows you to improve the black level of the TV. We were a little bit disappointed that you can't key the picture perfecting features to different inputs however, which is something that a lot of high end HD TV offers. When we took the TV into the lab, we were definitely impressed with the black level performance. It produces a nice deep color of black, although not quite as deep as some of the other rear projection HD TVs out there. Its color accuracy was pretty good with one exception. We did find that the green primary color a little bit too yellow compared to a lot of TV?s out there. So again, that's our main complaint with this TV. Otherwise, we really couldn't find too much wrong with the JVC picture. Anyway that's a quick look at the HD 56FN97 and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:01:56 [ Music ]

The JVC HD-61FH96 is a 60-inch, rear-projection television. Compared to other rear-projection TVs on the market, it is expensive at around $4,745.
At CES 2007, we take a look at the JVC HD-65S998, a 68-inch rear-projection TV that's wall-mountable and 1080p-capable.
While not quite as fetching as some, this set offers the best out-of-the-box performance we've seen yet from a rear-projection LCD.
