>> Hi. I'm David Carnoy, executive editor for CNET.com, and I'm here with the JBL Duet III PC speakers. These are actually the step-up model from the Duet IIs, which are a little bit smaller. They're shaped in the some way. They have kind of a cool, modernist look, and we suspect that JBL wanted you to think about pairing these with an iMac because they have these silver fronts. A and on the back, they do have a high-gloss black finish. While these speakers may look kind of fancy, there's nothing particularly fancy about them. To turn the speaker on and off, and also to control the volume, there's a knob on the top of the left speaker. There's kind of a funky cord design. The speakers aren't detachable from the back of the speakers. They all kind of come together in the left speaker. You have the power. You also have the cable that joins the two speakers together. It does give you ample length to separate the speakers for stereo separation. And you can either use the 3.5-millimeter jack that's attached to one of these cables to plug into your laptop or desktop PC, or plug right into a portable audio device, like an iPod. One of the disadvantages of this model is that it doesn't have a separate auxiliary in jack, so you do have to use that one cable to go to either a PC or an audio device. As for sound quality, we thought these guys were pretty good. There isn't a ton bass because there is not subwoofer. There was more bass than you get with the Duet IIs, the step-down model. But this still felt a little bit thin, but all-in-all, pretty good sound, good clarity. When we were reviewing these speakers, we were a little concerned when we saw the list price was $150.00. That's a little bit much to pay for these. But we did see these online for almost half that price, around $80.00, and at that price, the Duet IIIs are a pretty good value.
