>> Nicole: I'm Nicole Lee [assumed spelling], associate editor for cnet.com and this is a first look at the iTech Solar Voice 908 bluetooth headset. The unique thing about this headset is that it can be charged via solar radiation. So on the front here there is a large slab of photo [inaudible] cells that helps with that. Aside from that, it's a pretty standard headset. As you can see, it's very long and lean. Very nice oval shape here. On the side here, you do get the volume rocker, as well as the charger jack. On the other side you do get the LED indicators for the bluetooth charging status, as well as the solar charging status. You also get the multifunction button on the side here. The reason it's not on the front of course, is because of the solar cell on the front here. On the back of the headset is the ear piece. It's cut in a nice ear bud cover here. The earbud has grooves here for a better fit in the ear. The headset's features are pretty standard. You get the typical answering, ending and rejecting calls. You also get last number redial and support for call waiting and voice dialing. It also has advanced features like multi point connectivity that lets you connect up to two different devices at once. It also has [inaudible] music streaming capabilities. The Solar Voice 908 has around 10 hours of talk time and around 5.8 days of standby time. But of course, this is subject to the amount of sunlight that you can get with the headset. The headset comes with a little charging cradle that you can attach to your car's dashboard, for optimum direct sunlight. Without any sunlight, the headset has a rated talk time of around 10 hours and a rated standby time of around 5.8 days, but the company says that with optimum direct sunlight, the headset has a theoretical infinite standby time. Overall, the headset has pretty good noise canceling capabilities, so the call quality was quite good in general. I'm Nicole Lee and this has been a first look at the iTech Solar Voice 908 bluetooth headset. ^M00:01:58 [ music ]

i.Tech Solar Voice 905 Bluetooth Headset Review

The good: The iTech SolarVoice 908 has a photovoltaic cell, so it can charge via solar power. Features include multipoint technology, A2DP streaming, and noise canceling. It comes with a variety of earbud covers.

The bad: The iTech SolarVoice 908 needs direct sunlight for the solar charging to work. The multifunction button is located on the bottom left, which may be awkward for some people. The ear fit felt a little odd, as well.

The bottom line: Despite a few quirks, the iTech SolarVoice 908 is a good headset that has acceptable call quality, especially if you're into solar-powered gadgets.
