>> Tom Merritt: Hi. I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com here at CES2009. Taking a look at the iRiver Wave Home. This is from the music company, iRiver, that does the mp3 players you may be familiar with, but this is sort of a home desktop communication situation. It connects by Ethernet to your home network. It can also connect to your computers by USB or Ethernet, and then it gives you a sort of docking station area for all of your Internet activities. Let's take a look through the menus here. You've got communications, where you can make Internet calls, so VoIP calls or video calls. You can actually do video conferencing up to three different people, and it will do text messaging as well. There's a diary so you can leave notes for people in your family, make schedules, manage a calendar. The life section is what you see here with all of these widgets, so you can pull up a weather widget. They have some games widgets, and you can download different widgets from iRiver, put them on the device, and then, of course, it's multimedia so you can get FM radio. You can get music, photos, play some videos. You can buy videos from iRiver Plus, and, of course, a settings menu there handles that. Now, there's some basic volume controls and page controls and a button here on the front, but there's also a remote so if get going watching a video or playing some music, you can pull this remote out and use it to sit back and control it from maybe across the kitchen or something like that. The interesting thing about this remote also is you can take it with you. You don't have to leave it docked in. It actually operates as a VoIP phone so this will operate as a VoIP phone away from the iWave Home, and you can just hold it up to your head and make calls with the VoIP operator. They also see the iRiver Wave, which is just this. It's just a VoIP phone. Right now, they have a deal in Korea for Korea Telecom to be the provider of VoIP. Of course, you'd have to have WiFi for this to work, and they hope to get a US telecom to participate for that here. The iRiver Wave is going to be available January 09 in Korea, and they hope to bring it to the United States sometime in 2009. At CES2009, I'm Tom Merritt. [ Music ]
