>> Jasmine France: Hi, I'm Jasmine France, Senior Associate editor for www.cnet.com.

>> And I'm here today with the IriverE100. Now, this is just a kind of standard flash player. It kind of looks like a Zune, actually. It comes in a variety of colors. There's this light pink color. There's also a black, a sky blue and a brown color available in the United States, oh, and white, I almost forgot. And it comes in four gigabytes and eight-gigabyte capacities at 110 and 160 respectively. So it's a really good price for a player like this that has so many features. There are a couple of things about it that I don't like. One is that the control pad feels kind of cheap and we did experience some lags in navigating like certain areas in the interface. Also, the interface, a little bit boring, you can't really customize it. Definitely not a deal breakers, some people prefer that kind of thing, but we actually like being able to kind of toy with the interface and make it our own. The last thing is that the sound quality isn't as great as what you find on an Iriver clix [assumed spelling], and we kind of expected it being Iriver for it to sound spectacular, but it just sound solid. But other then that, it has a lot of features. There's a Micro SD card slot for adding more memory here on the top. There's two stereo speakers on the back. Now, don't expect excellent sound quality, but you know, it's nice if you like to share your music. Standard mini USB for syncing, lining [assumed spelling] port for recording audio, dedicated volume, always like to see that. And then the ever handy lock switch here on the side. Digging into the menus, you also have playback for photo, video and text. And as far as audio goes, it supports a lot of audio formats. It does support subscription music services such as Rhapsody, which is a nice touch. And there is a FM tuner [assumed spelling] built in with presets, audio scan and recordings. So a lot of features at this price point. If you're looking for super feature flash player, the IriverE100 is definitely worth a look. Just don't expect stellar audio quality or like a really poppy [assumed spelling] interface.

iRiver E100 (4GB, black) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Iriver E100 is packed with pretty much every feature in the book--photo and video playback, an FM radio, all recording capabilities, compatibility with both Windows and Mac, extensive audio file format support, bookmarking, microSD card expansion, even external speakers--yet it's inexpensive and easy to use.

The bad: The Iriver E100 has a cheap, plastic feel, and the interface is very basic. The clickpad is not totally responsive, and some navigation is sluggish. D-Click navigation isn't optimal for the control pad setup. No integrated podcast support.

The bottom line: The Iriver E100 is a decent choice for people who want a ton of features in an easy-to-use package, but if you're after speedy navigation or top-notch sound quality, look elsewhere.
