>> Hi I'm Jasmine France, associate editor for CNET.com. And I'm here today with a second generation iRiver Click. This is actually almost exactly like the first generation player in terms of features and sound quality, and even battery life. However, it is a little bit of a different design. It's a little bit longer, and quite a bit thinner, and that pretty much covers all the differences. It sports MP3, WMA, including protected WMA and [inaudible]. You also get photo support and video playback, which is always a nice bonus. And it kind of looks like a little TV, so it's nice to watch video on here. The screen's a little too small for viewing like full length movies or anything like that, but it's nice for viewing little thirty minute clips. The interface on this is really nice. It's really easy to use, it's got this nice bright background with kind of like a flower print going on in the background. You can also set any photo you want as a background, which I kind of think is a nice little feature. It's not like the most advanced feature, but it makes it nice to look at. As you get to the playback screen here, it offers a ton of information. This is actually one of the best playback screens I've ever seen. You get album art, you get all sorts of track information, you can rate the song. It shows you battery life, even the time and date up here at the top, which is kind of like a handy little thing. As far as other controls go, it does have dedicated volume here, these tiny little buttons along the top. There's also a power key and a hot key, which you can set to various functions. You get standard menu USB, always like that, and a hold switch, which is very important with this player, because it is very easy to activate the controls if you have it in a pocket. [ background music ] All in all an excellent player, excellent sound quality. This is an Editor's Choice winner, and it is certainly worth a look. I'm Jasmine France, and this has been the iRiver Click second generation. ^M00:01:33 [ music ]

iRiver Clix (8GB, second generation) Review
The good: The next generation Iriver Clix is even sleeker and slimmer than its predecessor, but offers the same unique and intuitive interface and stellar audio quality. This player comes packed with extras such as an FM radio; a voice recorder; an alarm clock; support for subscription content as well as OGG and Audible files; and photo, video, and text viewing. The Clix includes SRS Wow sound effects, it has good battery life, and it's priced competitively.
The bad: There's no cradle or line-in recording options for the new Clix yet, and Iriver doesn't offer an easy way to get video content for the device.
The bottom line: The Iriver Clix offers the perfect blend of hot design, desirable features, and stellar sound quality. If you're looking for an alternative to the iPod Nano, this device should top the list.
