>> Hi I'm Natalie del Conte with CNET. We're here at the New York Historical Society, where IREX has just launched their DR 800SG new digital reader. This is an 8 inch display that you navigate with a stylus. It's not a touchscreen display. It wirelessly downloads books for free over the Verizon network. This is going to cost 399 dollars when it comes out in October, and you can buy it at Best Buy for now. They say they will have it for sale at other retailers, but we don't know those just yet. This device supports the ePub format, so it is an open DRM format. You can get your books, take them to other readers, which is nice, and IREX says that they're committed to whatever an open DRM strategy evolves throughout the E-reader lifecycle. You can get magazines, books, you can bookmark pages within books. You can't bookmark specific passages are take notes yet, but they say that that will be a firmware upgrade in the near future. Also this software that comes with this device only works with PC's. No MAC support yet, but it has side loading so you can upload content from your PC over USB. It also charges with a standard USB port and comes with this white leather case. Again, this was your first look at the IREX DR 800SG. I'm Natalie del Conte with CNET. ^m00:01:19 [ Music ]
