>> Dong: Hello, this is Dong Ngo for CNET.com and I have with me here the Home Media Network Drive from Iomega. This is a really compact network storage device possibly as compact as could be for a device that's based on 3.5 inch hard drive. It's barely larger than the hard drive itself. The device has a very simple design with everything on the back, there's a gigabit Ethernet port, a USB port, a power switch and a little ventilation fan. This fan produces a very high pitch sound when it works which can be annoying to some. On the side here also to the back there are 2 LED lights that show the capacity gauge and the activities of the hard drive. The capacity gauge light goes on only when you have used 75% or more of the hard drive capacity. The USB port of the Home Media Network Drive can be used to host a printer or an external storage device. The Home Media can only read external hard drives formatting using [inaudible] System which may be less flexible as most drives are formatted using [inaudible] system. In our testing the Home Media Network Drive worked really well it offers much better through put speed than other Nav Server of its size. It's also one of the most user-friendly network storage devices we ever tested. The Home Media Network Drive comes in 500GB and 1TB versions that cost somewhere between $140.00 and $230.00. The bottom line: The Iomega Home Media Network Drive, a single-volume NAS server, is easy to set up and use for even the most novice user; however, its lack of advanced features might lessen its appeal to savvy users.
