Welcome to CNET inside scoop on Charlie Cooper here with my colleagues from news.com -- Lois and it's been called the trial the patent trial of the century which. Given the fact only twelve years into this century might be a little bit of Silicon Valley hype but it's -- first -- -- Samsung. And you've been following -- Josh for the what will be the first two weeks of scheduled four week trial or less correct. And it's too early to say who's ahead on points but you have a feel for what's been the biggest surprise today. Sure so far it's really just -- this avalanche of evidence that Apple's unveiled. -- on their part in on Samsung. And that includes internal product designs. It really points that out that Samsung was looking Apple devices to connect to -- field what I wanted to do with the -- two or three phones that they're working on. And Samsung just to recap Samsung. Is defending itself from charges Apple claims that Samsung basically ripped off. There ideas to produce their -- their iPhone knock off their Smartphones and their tablets and of course this is going to be going to a jury to. We're not talking about a judge it's a -- -- -- who presumably aren't experts in the ins and outs of technology. When you folks sitting there watching the jury listened to testimony. Do you have -- feel as to whether -- -- really getting. I think. The arguments they understand that Apple thinks -- Samsung copied technology. That includes early iPhone early iPad designs. That the thing -- -- injuries and the real -- agree parts of patent law things like. Whether designs look like or whether you get this look and feel on devices. And how far walk protects that does really complicated matters that there -- getting out with simple terms. What's Apple's. Basic argument. But -- you're saying look here is designed aim here is they're designed. You can see the difference that's exactly how they're doing they're basically taking. Samsung's devices before the iPhone iPad and showing afterwards and just trying to paint this picture that without the iPhone iPad. These could never happen. Okay and as far as -- the boys and girls in the press box and the bloggers armed. Give us a sense of what it's like to watch the proceedings. Are they buying the arguments on one side vs the other or for the treating it all -- well. -- -- Well -- began -- is really exciting because Apple product he's really kind of superstar witnesses -- product people. In charge of the creation but I've found on the product markers that -- designers. It's really kind of shifting more toward the patent found out where we're -- answer that really depths of the argument. For it is the jury is actually. They were almost warned X gets in caffeine the other day because they're kind of fallen asleep I mean it's getting really complicated as the stage -- the trial where your eyes roll in the back of it exactly. -- -- a couple of weeks left in the trial. What should we look forward to. Now we really can expect that Samsung's attack back. So far -- the trials with an Apple attacking them with a bunch of evidence that budget expert witnesses. And Samsung's -- defense as much as they can't and they really get to hammer after Apple with a couple their own patents in a couple their arguments.
